How historians view Trump – and how Trump sees himself

.
Imagine what historians will have to say about his cult of followers.

SAD!!!

That they continued to be a factor in elections for several more cycles. :(

I'm not sure about the "several more cycles." This is all about whites losing the population/power majority in the United States. That's just about a done deal. They could fall apart as quickly as the Tea Party has. Putting their leaders and symbols in prison (which also is already happening) as their grab to retain position goes to the illegal activity can destroy their unity. They, in fact, are increasingly chewing on each other.

We don't hear about the Tea Party any more because they won. They took over the GOP and morphed into Trumpers. Nothing's going to change, there, until the pro-biz Old Guard takes back the party from the nationalist-populists.

Umm, no. As I posted, they aren't winning no matter what name they take. Their goal is for the United States to remain majority white in population and power (and for many of them for it to be a male white). That's not going to happen--it's rapidly falling apart in the short term.

That doesn't mean they're about to disappear as a political force, or as a factor in elections.

Doesn't mean they'll be a significant factor for "several more cycles" either. I don't think they will. What they are doing now are last-ditch efforts--some of them so illegal that prosecution is almost unavoidable. If they don't get slapped down for those, the system won't survive anyway. We don't have "several more" election cycles for this one to play out--in my opinion.

Historians give Trump brutal grades in new survey -- and rank him worse than the president who died after a month

C-SPAN on Wednesday released its latest rankings of American presidents as determined by dozens of prominent historians -- and it revealed some very unwelcome news for former President Donald Trump.

Overall, historians ranked Trump as the fourth-worst president ever, coming in one spot below former President William Henry Harrison, who died after just one month in office.

The only presidents on the list to rank worse than Trump were Franklin Pierce, Andrew Johnson, and James Buchanan.

Johnson was the first American president to be impeached and Trump was the first American president to be impeached twice. Buchanan, meanwhile, is best remembered for lurching America toward a civil war.

Breaking down individual leadership characteristics, the historians ranked Trump dead last in moral authority and was ranked even worse on this score than Richard Nixon, the only American president to resign in the face of impeachment.

Trump also ranked poorly in the category of crisis management, no doubt a reflection of his widely criticized response to the novel coronavirus pandemic that has killed more than 600,000 Americans.
