How to Figure Out What You Want?

Anytime pretty lady.

So OP, after I've essentially high jacked this mother fucker in about 13 different ways, did you ever figure out what you wanted? Did you mean on a limited basis, i.e. the sandwich or the blow job? Or in the broader sense of what you want out of life? A specific career, a family?

Because I think my original answer still holds. It depends on timing, and where you are in your life, and who you are at that time. At 20, I wanted something much different than I want now. (I would still like Ed MacMahon to show up at my door with ten million dollars, zombie or not, but that is an exception to the rule.)

I enjoy the high jacking. It turns the tread into a variety show (...and now for something completely different...)

I've found one thing I want: I want to think less.

As hokey as it sounds I'd want peace. Not saying world peace, I just mean for myself.

I led a tumultuous life for years lived fast and hard and had fun, but paid some prices.

The last ten years everything seemed to really come together for me including the right woman to smack me into maturity.

But there have been some serious r/l issues going on that I hope will be resolved soon so at this point all I want to be is the equivalent to that old dog that lies under a tree and contentedly watches the world go by.

Until then I'll just show my fangs and chase cars around I guess.

I'm sorry your having some issues. Life is difficult but the good thing is that change always happens.

I would like world peace but in order for that to happen everyone would need to become enlightened and I don't think that's happening anytime soon.

I'd like to be engaged. Not in the waiting to be married sense but in the not living my life disengaged 99% of the time sense.

Someone once told me if you don't know what you want, you're probably just thirsty. I'm not sure it applies in this instance, though.

Wise man. No one whose been thru the mill wants drama after the age of 45 or so.

I was in a bar a few years ago and ordered a Southern Comfort and 7UP, I like Southern Comfort. So the bar maid sets my drink down and adds, WHAZZA MATTA, YOU AINT UP FOR A REAL DRINK? And I sez IS THE DRAMA INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE DRINK?

42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything. What was the question?
The Ultimate Question, answered by the Ultimate Answer, 42 is "what is 6x9?" (probably)
If the numbers 6 and 9 in base 13 are multiplied they equal 42.
I felt duty-bound to mention this

Perhaps I need an answer that doesn't use math.

I was popping back in to see if the answer to the meaning of life was yet discovered...
In the meantime let's just have sex

I think it was decided the meaning of life is both the number 42 and the color brown. So that was solved.

I however, still am in flux about what I want.

Do you know what you want?

I don't understand.

Not to get too dramatic and serious, or to relive my college philosophy classes
But I want what many want,
The feeling of craving.
The burn of passion and pursuit.
A human element that separates us from all other species is the desire to "live a life of significance."

Ok I'll step down from the podium with nerd now stamped on my forehead

I saw a video this morning about passion. The message was "Whatever you're passionate about is where you'll put your attention."

IMO: Passion is what makes us thrive right before we crash.

The meaning of life is 42.

Getting what you want depends on timing. Simetimes it's a blow job, sometimes it's a sandwich, sometimes it might be both. :)

IMO. Passion is what prevents us from crashing.
But what do I know I'm OCD

Then it makes it a good way to go :) What I fear most is a grey passionless life, so I'm with RT there.

To go back to your 'what I want'... I think I've been there, edging on the precipice of terminal boredom. What you need are the sparks thrown out in conversations, that take hold in your imagination. We look at the ground at our feet too often and need people with vision to nudge us the right direction. It's out there - I doubt you'll find it here ... but it's nice having you :) :)

You can always ask Siri.

Edit : Even damn Siri didn't know. What goddam use is an AI who only says "No comment" when asked what I want.

Though she does love me, because I asked her earlier.

I may spend too much time with my phone.
