my 2 cents
Instead of taking melatonin you can go outside and get 5 minutes of sunshine a day. I began having some insomnia problems a few years ago and though it might be some kind of reverse seasonal affective disorder since my problems were in the summer. Then I realized that I wasn't getting any sun exposure in the summer because it was too hot. I experimented and I need 5-10 minutes of sun about 3 days a week and I'm good. I'm actually having more problems now that I quit smoking. I have to remember to go outside now. You will have to experiment to see how long you need. I think most people need about 10-15 minutes. Hope that helps.

On occasion a pillow over the head is needed to blot light, but that covers it.
