Tamerlane quickly grabbed an oatmeal bar and headed out the door. He punched the button unlocking his car and opened the door. Jumping in the driver seat, he hurriedly snapped the seat belt and turned the key. As the engine started and brought life to the compact, he looked back, turning his head around to make sure that no one lingered in front of the driveway.

He pressed the gas pedal and pulled out in reverse: rapidly traveling out of the cul-de-sac as he directed his vehicle toward the freeway entrance. On NPR, he heard the worries of about the rise of Mutant crime and Congress’s calls for action. Although he listened with interest, the reality of Mutants seemed far away as he checked for signs of traffic slowing; which indeed stalled as the gigantic Sentinel landed – casting cars aside and overturning others as the jets on the robot’s legs softened the monster’s descent.

Remarkably, the metal colossus walked forward and crushed cars with every step, and in his direction! However, before he knew how to respond to this unexpected situation, a woman landed next to him and brutally ripped the door open with her bare hands:

- Get out!

She yelled as the Sentinel eyes glowed and fired a pair of beams at the woman….

Rogue had been simply flying through the state, minding her own business when in the distance she saw the massive robot landing in what amounted to a suburban neighborhood. What the hell? The government swore that they would never reactivated the mutant death machines ever again.

Rogue could hear the screams and the screeches of metal as the Sentinal began stomping on innocent people. You didn't need to be a genius to know that something was seriously wrong with this.

She flew down at top speed, landing right beside a car where a young man was still staring in shock at the giant beast coming toward him. She ripped the door of his car off and screamed at him.

"Get out!" She roared, then flew up toward the head of the robot.

Her fist balled and she reared back as she was ready to slug the block off this thing when she noticed something strange. The robot's gaze followed not her, but instead the guy she had screamed at as he fled down the neighborhood.

"Hey tin head." She roared, "Ah'm your problem now!"

She slugged the monster with full force, knocking the head clean off with a loud shriek of metal. The giant beast moaned at losing its head and slowly toppled over. Rogue spun and looked for the guy she had saved a moment ago.

"HEY!" She shouted as she saw him ducking into a backyard. With a huff, she tugged her tight yellow gloves firmly down her wrists and flew after the guy.

"Ah said hey!" She said, landing in front of him. "You alright?" She asked him, her southern accent thick tonight.

He checked himself as he looked and then said:

- Yes… I think so….

His eyes, though, focused on another one of those behemoths as the Sentinel towered over them:

- Watch out!

He frantically said as he took her hand and tried to outrun the giant….

Rogue watched him tug at her hand and she smirked, her gaze glancing back toward the robot behind her. "They don't learn do they?" She pulled her hand away from his and launched up into the air, colliding with the robot in the stomach and toppling the big machine.

The world shook as she landed on the things face, her fingers digging into the eye and ripping out wires and power systems, causing a shut down. Good to know that the design on these thigns hasn't been updated since she fought them last. Made them easy to handle.

The appearance of the second robot though confirmed that they were indeed after the boy and she needed to get him out of here.

She found him scrambling across the street.

"Hey!" She called zipping in front of him. "Come with me, we have to get you out of here or this whole neighborhood will be in ruins." She grabbed him into her arms, before he could protest and took off into the air.

She had to get him to Xavier.

Flight disoriented him and his head went in all directions as he tried to reorient his perspective. In his attempts to find his bearings, he suddenly saw another Sentinel speeding towards them; with hands ready to grab them:

- Look out!

He yelled as his hand brushed her face… and they began falling down….

Rogue saw his eyes widen as he glanced behind them and realized the soft roar behind her was another robot. Then his hand brushed her cheek and her eyes widened as she felt her flight energy just stop as if it had never been there to begin with.

HE touched her and her power had shut off like a switch. The shock of that hit her as she realized that her strength was gone and she wasn't strong enough to hold onto him and he fell from her hands.

She blinked and her powers came rushing back to her. The boy being her priority she launched herself down to catch the guy before he went splat.

She scooped him up barely a few feet above the ground and kicked her feet out under them so she could land and take the full force of the impact. Rogue grunted with the effort and set him down quickly.

"Hide!" She shouted and spun in time to take the robot's foot full force into her body. She flew through a nearby restaurant in an explosion of glass and debris. She landed smashed into the dumpsters out back and launched herself into the air immediately.

"Son of a bitch!" She roared and dealt massive hits to the machine toppling it quickly.

Once the machine was motionless she landed in the street and doubled over to catch her breath. The guy fucking touched her, and it turned her power off. She didn't drain anything from him. Not a single zap....Dear god he could touch her! SO long as she wasn't flying, it made her stomach feel queasy.

For the first time Rogue may have finally met someone she could touch skin to skin. Good lord what was she to do?

Scrambling toward some bushes planted in the park which now bore the impact crater made by Rogue; he watched as she went through a family restaurant. As people fled the fighting between the Mutant and the taller Sentinel, flames engulfed some of the unfortunate patrons as the toppling robot’s plasma beams ignited a ruptured gas line.

Screams for assistance came from the injured or those trying to revive the motionless bodies that lay still on the street in front of the burning restaurant. As the local fire department came to assist, a paramedic mistook him for one of the survivors and quickly put him inside an ambulance.

When Tamerlane arrived at the hospital, he sat while waiting for a doctor to exam him for injuries. He already told a nurse that he seemed fine, but that response only caused her to come back with a pen and a number of forms attached to a clipboard. As he filled out the blank areas with the intimate details of his rather boring existence; the bewildered trying to remember if he had any allergies to certain medications felt uneasy – as if an invisible presence observed him from a close distance….

Rogue was frantic. After she had finished off the Sentinel she tried to find the guy who could touch her and shut her power down. But he was nowhere to be found. The public was in a panic in the chaos of the giant robot attacks and emergency services were already on the scene. These things were blatantly after the guy who's name she never got, and she needed to find him before there was another attack.

Xavier I need you she called with her mind.

Go ahead Rogue I am here. Xavier replied.

Good thing Xavier was so powerful that he could hear any of his X-Men should they call out loud enough. Even if they had no psychic power of their own. Rogue quickly explained what was happening with the Sentinel attacks and the need to find the guy. Xavier told her to get to the hospital quickly, and to meet Cyclops on the rooftop where he would be waiting in the Blackbird.

Rogue was airborne quickly and found herself sneaking into the emergency room. Her took off her glove and snuck up behind a nurse. With a gentle touch to the woman's cheek she sapped enough knowledge of the hospital to find out where she needed to go. The woman slumped against her and Rogue quickly pulled her into the ladies room and left her in a stall.

Before going through the emergency hallway Rogue snuck into laundry and threw out a spare nurse uniform. Then made her way to where she knew she would find the guy she was looking for.

She threw back the curtain to reveal him and said, "Come with me quickly!"

The hand that grabbed Tamerlane roused him from his bureaucratic daze:

- It’s you!

He loudly proclaimed – enough for some patients to wake from their slumber:

- Where are you taking him?

The nurse that gave Tamerlane the forms to fill, standing erect with her hands on her hips, addressed the woman attempting to abduct her charge:

- Let go of his hand… Or I’ll call security!

Rogue spun on the nurse and smiled, "We are going to dinner Suga'." Then she grabbed the woman and pulled her close for a quick peck on the lips. Rogue twitched as she shook away the woman's mind and memories. The nurse backed away and slumped against the wall.

Rogue spun toward the guy and asked, "What's your name hun?"

- Tam… Tamerlane….

He stammered, still shocked by the stranger’s audacious behavior. He assumed the nurse sitting senseless next to him felt the same way as she swooned to the other woman’s advances. Continuing to hold his hand, she escorted him out of the hospital:

- Where are you taking me?

He questioned the insistent woman as she pushed through an emergency exit door. The alarm went off as she climbed the stairs. Helplessly pulled by her, they reached the roof where a jet sat on the helipad. Furthermore, a man wearing a pair of rather opaque sunglasses called out to them as he waited near the plane’s boarding ramp:

- Hurry up! There’s no telling when more Sentinels will show up!

Just as he spoke those words, several of those aforementioned Sentinels floated just above the hospital, with palms ready to discharge bolts of energy as they stated in unison:

- Surrender! Resistance is useless!

Rogue groaned as she ran with Team across the rooftop. "Fucking hell!" She screamed, rushing Tam to Scott. "I will take care of them. Get him back to the sc.....!" Rogue was cut off as a blast ofenergy pelted her across the rooftop and over the side.

She heard the Blackbird roar off into the night as she flew up into the sky over the Sentinels both of which were attempting to follow the hypersonic plane. "They just dont give up. I hope the cloaking at school will mess them off our asses."

Then Rogue cracked her knuckles and handled her business.

- Strap yourself in!

Tamerlane heard the man say as he pushed him into one the Blackbird’s passenger seats:

- Ready or not…. We’re taking off!

The pilot eased the plane up before Tamerlane hooked the last of the straps. He felt himself pressed against his seat as the vertically oriented Blackbird gained altitude:

- I’m going to try to shake them off!

Suddenly, he felt weightless as Scott intentionally stalled his aircraft. As he pointed Blackbird’s nose down, she plummeted hundreds of feet per second as she flew past the pursuing Sentinels:

- Hang on!

He managed to grunt as G-forces slowly grayed his vision. Fortunately, the engines restarted in time for them to miss an appointment with the closing ground. At this time, Cyclops activated the Blackbird’s cloaking device. After setting his plane on autopilot, he turned around to speak with his passenger:

- We’ll be there soon….

He then resumed the task of piloting – contacting a feminine as he asked for permission to land….

Rogue bought time with her battle of the two giant machines. Leading them out over the Atlantic before her put an end to them. That way the big bodies would land without further damage to the public. By the time she got back to the school Scott and the new guy Tam would have been back for hours.

She landed softly at the front door and let herself in, only to see Tam sitting on the stairs staring down at his hands. The look on his face showed he was still in shock over something.

"Hey, did you talk to the professor? Ah'm guessing the shock of being a mutant is a surprise." She said coming over to him and sitting down beside him. "It really isn't so bad once you get used to it though." She said, trying to be comforting.

- Who’s this Professor?

Tamerlane said as he looked at Rogue’s direction:

- Where am I, anyway?

His mind still lagged, trying hard to make sense of recent events. Once the pilot landed the Blackbird, he introduced himself as Scott led him to from an underground hangar to a mansion filled with students. (Of course, Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters seemed entirely populated by Mutants!)

Suddenly feeling exhausted, Tamerlane sat to collect his thoughts… until the girl who aided in his escape from Sentinels appeared before him….
