Hunter's Place

It wasn't unexpected, Shellie fleeing to head outside for her trip home, but it was frustrating. What was unexpected, however, was the little kiss on the side of his mouth she had given him before heading off towards the main exit.

Damien looked after her, his heart beating away at a mile a minute in his chest. He hadn't felt so entrapt by a woman in ages... she was definitely someone he hoped to see again! Now, what was he going to do for the rest of the evening...? It was only early hours yet... not time enough for him to go home. But Damien felt as though he had lost something special in that woman. He couldn't wait to see her again.

Waiting outside for her cab, Shellie shivers, a light mist starting to fall. She heads for the cab, then notices she her purse isn't with her. Asking the cabby to wait, Shellie darts back into the bar.

Looking over to where she had been sitting at the bar then over to the table where she and Damien had been sitting she realizes that her purse is missing. She feels her face frowning, as she heads to the bar, hoping that maybe they have her purse.

Thinking to herself, how silly it was to leave it lying somewhere, granted it didn't have alot of things in it, since it was only a small purse for carrying basic things, but it was hers. "Excuse me." she asks the bartender "Has anyone brought you a small red purse?" Her features fall and a look of disappointment falls to her face, as he tells her no.

Shellie wonders now what is she going to do, wondering if the cabby would let her have a ride and then run up to her apartment for his tab. She lives quite a few blocks away so she can't really walk, well she could but it isn't safe, shrugging her shoulders she heads towards the door, crossing her fingers that the cabby has waited and he has a heart.

Damien saw her heading back into the club, darting between where she had been sitting at the bar and where they had both taken a table together, and tried to hurry over to her, to give Shellie back the purse she had dropped when she had started moving through the crowds towards the exit to leave for the evening, but his way was hindered by the bustling dancers and the drunken nightgoers.

He saw her talking to the bartender, then turning away in frustration, heading back out towards the exit. Well, here goes nothing, Damien, he thought to himself. He knew he had to at least try and get the purse back to Shellie... he imagined she needed it. Maybe then, when the opportunity presented itself, he could offer her a ride home - nothing more than that of course, because he was sure pressing the issue would anger or frighten this woman away from him.

Keep a stiff upper lip, Damien thought to himself - perservere with this, and the rewards will be all the sweeter!

Shellie walks out back into the night searching for her cab. She groans out a sigh of frustration and doesn't see one anywhere around. Thinking to herself she considers heading back in and calling one, deciding against it, she begins to walk towards her house, maybe she'll see a cab on the way.

The night air causes her to shiver and she wraps her arms around her body, as a light drizzle begins to fall. She feels herself starting to feel rotten for how the evening had ended, she should have given him her number, or at least told him when she would be back at the club. She wipes a tear from her eye as her disappointment settles against her heart, kicking a stone down the sidewalk, the clouds open up and the rain falls hard over her.

"Great!" she says out loud and gives the stone a great kick, breaking the heel of her shoe, finally she just chuckles to herself and continues her path home, feeling like a drowned rat.

She hears the sound of a car slowing down behind her, unsure of her safety she quickly steps up her pace.

Shellie looked pretty terrible when Damien pulled up beside her in his Lincoln Town Car - the rain that had started out as a light drizzle just a few moments earlier had quickly become a downpour, and she was limping slightly on what he summized was a broken shoe-heel.

He let his side window wind down when he pulled alongside her in the rain, and she had finally seen her. "Hey Shellie, hop on in, I think you really need a lift!"

He could see that she still hesitated for a few moments, but soon common sense perservered and she hurried around as best she could around the front of the car to get into the passenger's seat.

She was dripping wet all over the car's leather upholstery, but it was nothing a quick dry when he got home couldn't put right so Damien didn't fret. He gave the woman a dazzling smile. "Well, it seems I'm making a habit of rescuing you tonight, doesn't it?"

Relief showed in Shellie's eyes, "Thank you, so very much!" She smiles over at him, "I must look a wreck, huh?" Laughing she pulls down the visor and wipes her face, trying to dry it from the rain. Looking around the car, she apologizes to Damien for getting water all over his seats.

"Funny how you seem to be around whenever I need a hero," her laugh spills quietly from her lips. She pulls the seatbelt across her chest, the strap pressing between her breast, she turns hearing the buckle lock into place.

"I live about 10 blocks down and then take a right on Middletown Way, my apartment complex is on the left. I really appreciate this!" smiling over at him she touches his arm, squeezing it slightly, "Really thanks."

She moves her hand back to her lap, and watches the rain slide over her window.

"Oh, its no problem, I'm just glad I was here to help!" he said with a laugh. Damien drove away from the curb, following Shellie's instructions to the letter, disappointed that there wasn't more traffic down the heart of the city so they would have more time together.

He was slightly drunk, but not intoxicated enough to impede his driving, or get himself in trouble with the law.

Then Damien remembered the reason why he had endeavoured to track Shellie down. "Oh yes, and here's your purse too, before I forget!"

"Oh, wow! Thanks!" she leans over and quickly pecks his cheek. She feels her face blushing as she settles back in her chair. Staring out her window she puts her fingernail between her teeth, grinning into the night.

Thinking to herself she wonders what has come over her, she is never like this, so bold and inviting. I better be careful she continues her thoughts, I know I'm not wanting this to go any further, I just met him. She takes a deep breath and brings her eyes to the front window.

Spying her apartment complex she motions to Damien where he can park.

He was VERY surprised by the kiss on the cheek, but estatic. It was exactly what he had been hoping for out of his actions with Shellie this evening.... a natural sign of affection from her, something that could easily lead to something more later down the line.

Damien followed her beckoning and parked just in front of her apartment, in a ten-minute zone. He leapt out of his side of the car and raced around to her side door, opening it and taking her by the arm to coax her hurriedly over to the shelter of the front entrance of Shellie's apartment tenents. He could feel her hot breath on his face - their lips are only inches apart, they were gazing into each other's eyes...

For the briefest of moments, he wondered if she would kiss him... no, Damien thought, that was just rediculous, sheer fantasy.

Shellie feels his breath, and she longs to reach out and taste his lips, so inviting and gentle they seem to her, she presses herself closer, her lips just a whisper from his. Suddenly Shellie hear's a crash, jumping back a black cat scurries down the sidewalk, an empty trash can rolls in the wind.

She pulls away from Damien, thanking him again, for the rescue at the club, their dance and the rescue from the rain. She gazes back up at him, waiting for him to say something, realizing that the evening is over she hears the disappointment in her voice as she says, "Goodnight Damien, it was a pleasure to meet you. I hope we'll run into each other again."

Shellie turns to her complex and opens the door, pausing just for a moment, thinking back over the last few minutes, she feels a sneaky grin form on her lips. A new Shellie has taken shape, she feels her body standing a little taller as she opens the door and closes it behind her. She waits on the other side, until she hears Damien's car drive away. Leaning back against the door, she grins wider, as she reflects on what she had just remembered moments ago, she wonders when he'll see her purse on the floor board of his car, and how long it will be before she hears from him again.

She takes the elevator to her floor, then moves down to her apartment. Letting herself in she, leaves the lights off as she heads to her bedroom to change. Once there Shellie turns on her bedside lamp and proceeds to slowly remove her dress. She closes her eyes as she imagines Damien beside her, his hands covering her shoulders, slipping the straps down, kissing her neck. She feels a soft stroke against her ankle, bringing her mind back to reality, bending down she picks up Sam, her white persian cat. Cuddling him close she sighs into his neck, then puts him back down, returning to her bedtime routine, removing her bra and panties, she climbs into bed, reaching out she turns off the light, snuggles into her blankets and dreams of a knight in shining armour riding to her rescue on a black stallion.

He couldn't believe how close he had come to kissing Shellie before she had pulled away... but she had in the end, and it was her move to make so he had let her do so. Damien was hardly surprised by her hesitation, either - it just fit in with the rest of her personality. She was a shy girl at heart, but he thought he had gone at least a little way towards winning her heart and her affections...

The Lincoln sedan glided smoothly down the main promenarde of the city, as Damien took his ride home alone. He could have gone back to Hunter's Place and easily picked up one of the many easy-lays that populated the hot, happenin' nightspot, but decided almost immediately against it. He wasn't interested in the least in any of those self-interested bimbos. No, someone else had his full and undivided attention. He was Shellie's now, to take or reject as she saw fit.

As he was pulling into the driveway of his expensive townhouse, nestled away in a very high-end, wealthy residentual community within the city centre itself, Damien noticed that the purse he had found at Hunter's Place, the purse he had raced around the countryside trying to give back to Shellie, was on the floor on the passenger's side of the car! She had forgotten it again! Oh no!

Then he thought, oh YES!!! Now he had the prefect opening marker to cash in for the next time they met... because he was sure there would be a next time, was determined that there would be a next time. Now though, for some rest, he thought with a tired sigh as he picked up Shellie's wayward purse, got out of the Lincoln Town Car, slammed the door shut, and activated the remote alarm lock.

He walked over to the entrance to his house from the garage that he was currently in, let himself in with his house-key, activated the mechanical rollers to shut off the car-port from the outside world, and switched off the light, letting the room drop back into darkness. It was time to go to bed, to get up in the morning ready to face a new day - one thing was for sure though. Damien sure was glad that he went to Hunter's Place on that Friday night!

Saturday morning

Shellie woke up to the feel of vibration against her hand, reaching her hand up she stroked her cat, hearing him purr his approval. The sun streaked across her bed and she rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Looking up at her ceiling she remembered her dream of Damien and her enjoying nice romantic dinner before cuddling on her couch, sighing she pulls her tired body out of bed and heads to the shower.

Washing her body, she lets the water wake her senses and as she washes her hair, she imagines Damien's hands stroking her scalp. Sighing she wonders when she'll see him again, maybe she'll head to Hunter's this evening.

Getting ready for work she thinks of what may happen if she seems him again, thinking how she could step up and show him she is interest in him. Hopefully he'll be there tonight, looking for her to return her purse, if not she'll just have a good time anyway.

Heading off to work she thinks over her list of things to do this Saturday morning, hoping she can get it all done by lunch.

Damien woke up late... he had had a few to drink the night before, and always woke up later than usual when he had a night on the town. It was a good thing, though, that he didn't have any pressing engagements on this day - Saturdays were usually days he could take off, and Sundays always were. It was pretty great to be his own boss, at least in Damien's opinion.... no set hours, nobody on his back all the time to meet deadlines, no real pressure other than the pressure he put on himself.

He decided to get up after awhile, fix up some bacon and eggs, and sit down to some mid-morning television. There was usually the replays of the Friday night baseball matches to enjoy... Damien got up and started moving around his small kitchen, getting things out and putting things on to cook. He started working on getting some coffee brewed up, and had a big, cold glass of filtered water to help clear his head while he waited.

Then, thoughts of Shellie started to drift through his mind, as though gliding on the winds of his lingering dreams... Damien knew almost from the moment he had awoken that, during his sleep, he had dreamed of her. But for the life of him then, he could not remember any details.

Now though, he still couldn't remember much detail, but he could recall some feelings and emotions from them...

Shellie got into work on time and went off searching for the files she needed to research the Dunn Case, spying Mr. Lauer in his office, she waves to him. Sitting at her desk she concentrates on the inner workings of the Dunn file, she takes some notes, familerizing herself with each section.

Mr. Lauer comes over and glances over at Shellie, she can feel the heat of his stare as he oggles her breast. She recalls her interview with him and his wife, she liked Mrs. Lauer... the husband, well that was a different story. Shifting in her seat, she scoots her chair further against the side of her desk, partially concealing her body.

Shellie notices the clock on the wall and decides to end her day a little bit before lunch. She heads for a cab and decides to have lunch at the cafe, just a few blocks from her apartment then walk the way home.

Damien didn't really have any plans for the day... he thought he would take things easy, just laze around the house, but his mind was too active. He just couldn't stop thinking about Shellie, hoping to do more, wanting to meet with her again and make a real good impression yet again.

He found himself driving in his Lincoln down through her neighbourhood again around lunchtime, looking from one side of the street to the other as he went, hoping and wondering if he would catch sight of Shellie again. She could have even gone in to her work on a Saturday, Damien thought to himself as he tried to reason against his actions. This was just too childish to believe, he thought with a slightly sad smile... this was delusional!

But then he saw her getting out of a cab as he drove by, paying the cabbie for her fare out in front of an outdoor cafe, and he could hardly believe his eyes. Damien kept driving past though... he could see a car parking space on the side of the curb just up ahead, not fifty feet away from the cafe.

Although it would be strange to meet Shellie again the day after he'd dropped her off - Damien knew the dangers of his actions looking like the moves of a stalker - he decided to just risk it all and approach her regardless. He was pretty confident that he could work through any initial misgivings or awkward moments... it was worth a shot, anyway.

Shellie was sitting at her table, enjoying the nice breeze against her face. Sipping her ice water, she started to cough as she noticed Damien walking towards her. She covered her mouth with her napkin and coughed into it, her eyes watering as she tried to recover her breath and her composure, she felt her mascara running as tears pooled into her eyes.

Finally she looked up and saw Damien standing beside her, a humours expression on his face, laughing up at him, she wiped the black spotches of smeared mascara from under her eyes. "You know, you never find me at my best!" her laugh filled the air. "Won't you join me?" she asked him.

Watching him, she waited for him to either spend sometime with her or just tell he was passing by. Her stomach was turning butterflies and somersaults as she studied his features, waiting for his answer.

Damien couldnt stop himself from smiling and almost breaking out laughing at Shellie as she struggled to breathe properly again. It was funny, but in bad taste.... he knew how it was to swallow a mouthful of drink down the wrong way, as he was sure most everyone did at at least one point in their lives.

"Oh, I'm glad that I'm not imposing... sorry about just appearing like this all the time out of nowhere, I really must stop or you'll start to get the wrong impression about me!" he said with a laugh. Damien paused for a long moment, then asked her with a slight grin, "So, if you're okay to talk now... how has your day been so far?"

"Not bad. How about yours?" Shellie smiles up at him, her color returning to normal. She can see the humor in his eyes as once again he found something about her to laught at. Oh, well thinking to herself.. laughter is a good thing.

Damien takes a seat beside her, she rattles on about how her morning was and enjoys having his attentioned focused on her. Looking around she notices no pretty waitresses here to steal his attention.

"So what has you over by this area of town, business or pleasure?"

Shellie takes along sip of her water.

Damien's grin widened at that. "Pleasure, of course... I'm here aren't I?"

As soon as he said the cheesy, off-the-cuff compliment to her, he leaned back slightly in his chair and waited for her response... he was sure she would be nervous, flustered in some way, but in the end very glad at what he said.

Shellie's color rose in her face again, suddenly realizing he was flirting with her. She grinned wide, her eyes sparkled as she thanked him for the compliment. "So, pleasure.. mine I must assume. I really enjoyed our dance last night and everything else."

"You know I'm finished with my lunch and my apartment is just up the block, you want to come up and enjoy the air conditioner? Besides maybe I can put you to work moving my entertainment center, I'd rather not ask Mr. Lauer, I'm not real comfortable around him anymore."

Waiting for his answer she finishes her drink and puts her money on the ticket, thinking to herself.. now where in the hell does she want to move the entertainment center too?

He smiled to himself... ah, puttin me to work, he thought with a smile. Well, at least he would be in her apartment!

"Yeah that sounds great, Shellie! We'll have to take the car, though... I don't want to leave it down here. Is that okay with you?" Damien asked. He sure was really getting to enjoy her nice, sweet, innocent company... she was a real breath of fresh air in his life.

"Sure" Shellie heads out with Damien to walk to his car, while they walk she talks about where she may want the center moved.

Finally arriving at the car, Shellie waits for Damien to open her door.

He unlocked the vehicle with his remote lock zapper, then quickly moved forward to open up the front passenger's side door for Shellie to step down onto the pavement, then slip into the car. Once she was properly seated in his car again, Damien went around to the driver's side of the car and got in behind the wheel.

Damien started up the engine of the Lincoln, pulled out onto the main road and drove off down the street. He turned to Shellie for a brief moment as he drove down the street, and said, "Lead the way, lil' darlin'... where to?"

She giggled over his southern twang, wondering if that was real or not, smiling she pointed him once again to the apartment complex, chuckling to herself as she kept thinking of his lil' darlin' comment.

Arriving at the complex, Shellie allows herself to wait for Damien to assist her from the car, not wanting to just jump out if he was still trying to be a gentlemen.

Damien groaned inwardly, but quickly fought back his grumblings and got out to the car to go around and help Shellie out. He had a feeling that she was testing the waters with him, trying to find out if he was genuine or not... Damien had to keep things going good, or else he knew things would degrade.

He helped her around the car and up onto the sidewalk, then followed her up to the front door. There, he waited for her to unlock the door, and offer him to come in.
