Hell, that wasn't nuthin' but a couple of weeks ago for many of us.The fall of Berlin wall and break up of Soviet Union
When I went to Basic Training (age 21) the targets we shot had hammer and sickle emblems and our threat and tactics training was about how to fight against Soviet tactics (summary: shoot the guy next to the guy with the antennas or the vehicle with the antennas because that's the only guy/vehicle who knows what the mission is).The fall of Berlin wall and break up of Soviet Union
I still write a check or two a monthCheck books being used in Finland. (Eradicated in the 1980's!)
Here check books are totally obsolete, they haven't been available even at the risk of and at a cost to the user. Checks written by the bank (used eg in real estate trade, if buyer and seller had different banks) were used longer, but I think even they are obsolete now - at least last year I bought this apartment totally online. Edit. It seems companies still use checks - single ones, written by the bank for the exact occasion, not cheque books.I still write a check or two a month
So, at least 35 years behind Finland in that sense....I still use checks. Some banks charge for them, some issue a few for free.
