I am Music

The sound of genius. RIP Dave Brubeck.

Ghosts That We Knew :
You saw my pain, washed out in the rain
Broken glass, saw the blood run from my veins
But you saw no fault no crack in my heart
And you kneel beside my hope torn apart
But the ghosts that we knew will flicker from you
And we'll live a long life
So give me hope in the darkness that I will see the light
Cause oh that gave me such a fright
But I will hold as long as you like
Just promise me we'll be alright

So lead me back
Turn south from that place
And close my eyes from my recent disgrace
Cause you know my call
We'll share my all
Now children come and they will hear me roar
So give me hope in the darkness that I will see the light
Cause oh that gave me such a fright
But I will hold as long as you like
Just promise me that we'll be alright

But hold me still bury my heart on the cold
And hold me still bury my heart on the cold

So give me hope in the darkness that I will see the light
Cause oh that gave me such a fright
But I will hold on as long as you like
Just promise me that we'll be alright

But the ghosts that we knew will flicker from you
And we'll live a long life

She was a visitor...

Not a very good performance, not enough performers, perhaps, or recorded with too much emphasis on the narrator, but the best I could find.

Done well, this piece is freaking transcendent. There was a recording (LP) on Columbia Odyssey that was quite good, though it's ancient history now, of course.

RIP George Jones

Country music is not my thing, but you know, ol' George was more than iconic. He was the voice of country music. Matthew Diebel even cites the Chairman of the Board, Frank Sinatra, as naming Jones as "the second best white singer in America."

Which is a statement so loaded with innuendo that I wouldn't come nearer to it than I would to a nerve gas exclusion area.

Anyway, my apologies for this sampling, as I know nothing about country music. These are just some random things I've linked off YouTube:
Guy had a way with a song, though.
