"She Smiled Sweetly" Lindsey Buckingham
Why do these thoughts loom so large
They stay and stay
Day after day
And won't dissapear
My hair's turning grey

But she smiled sweetly
She smiled sweetly
She smiled sweetly
And says don't worry
No, no, no, no

Why do they hide inside of me
They take the peace most every day

And so begin again, begin again

Well that's what she said so softly
I understood for once in my life
And feeling good most all of the time

'Cause she smiled sweetly
She smiled sweetly
She smiled sweelty
And says don't worry
No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no

Perhaps because of my age, I have been coddling up to times past and the singy songy things I listened to in those far gone times. So I'll poke y'all with this one, which is like my favorite PSG song ever: Radio Ethiopia.

Not sure I know anyone else who is (1) a Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, (2) in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, (3) has been awarded a National Book Award, and (4) who dated/slept with both Sam Shepard and Robert Mapplethorpe.

Girl rocks, though.

I miss Homburg and his musicality posts. Kinda kept me within at least hailing distance of some kind of youthiness, aurally. Perhaps some of you newer youthy persons can clue me in about contemporary soundiness, eh?

Think of it as humoring a grandparent--the odd one who gave you tie-dyed undies for Christmas and sang you to sleep with "Touch of Grey."

In the City

Had fun this weekend walking around In the City. Actually, that isn't true. I saw them at Hastings on Hudson, but will walk around in the city tomorrow.

If you get the chance, check out Milton when he comes to your town. He's got a great crew of musicians and you will be dancing in your seat. If not elsewhere.

Somebody I used to Know by Goyote with Kimbra

Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember

You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end, always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad it was over

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and I feel so rough
No you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
Part of me believing it was always something that I'd done
But I don't wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and I feel so rough
And you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Somebody
(I used to know)
Somebody
(Now you're just somebody that I used to know)

(I used to know)
(That I used to know)

Saw this woman in concert last night at Webster Hall. Fabulous concert.

(Lyrics Below)

Lyrics to Hockey Skates :
Going down in the same old town down the same street to the same bar
And the same old people saying hi and I don't care
Going down in the same old bar and I don't even order anymore
I am so sick of consequence and the look on your face
I am tired of playing defense
I don't even have hockey skates

You can meet me at ten thirty
I won't be there I'll be gone
We can talk like we are friends
Going over it all again
Talking about everything I am doing wrong

Do you wish your nose was longer
So you'd have an excuse not to see past it
Do you wish the lights were brighter in the city that you live
I am so sick of consequences..

Do you think your boys club will crumble
Just because of a loud-mouthed girl?

The Glee version is pretty good too with 2 male vocals from a different perspective. Original being of a romantic break up while the Glee version sibling rivalry between brothers. I really like Goyte's but Glee does an awesome job as well.

psst, ya, I watch Glee. :c

I'm just a poor Jew and the dogma/content of the following sure ain't my story, but oh my goodness, this woman has an incredible voice! She would totally kill on jazz standards!
