I need to get something off of my chest. After my husband and I went on vacation last summer and visited various places in CA we came back feeling disgusted over the degree that the liberal government has ruined what used to be a beautiful state and a major tourist attraction.

I commented about the problem of people shitting on the street and pissing wherever they want to. The open use of drugs and streets littered with spent drug needles. Homeless people sprawled out on sidewalks and filth and garbage everywhere.

In my comments I was critical of how liberal politicians act as if they have totally lost their minds. And as if the people that put them in office must all be doped up with drugs.

But I just saw something in the news that made me realize that I have been all wrong. The BART police handcuffed a man for eating a breakfast sandwich on the platform.

If the man had taken a shit on the platform they would not be able to do anything about it. If he had taken out his penis and sprayed urine on the platform that would be ok. But they handcuffed him and took him into custody for eating a breakfast sandwich.

I can now see clearly that I was overly critical of the CA rules for life. The man was clearly in the wrong. How dare he eat in a shitting zone?

I apologize for my earlier criticism of the inmates that running the asylum in CA. Maybe my husband and I will go back to CA on vacation after all.

Hopefully their liberal ideas will continue to flourish so that the entire USA becomes a public toilet and no one will ever again dare to eat a breakfast sandwich in public.

You make a very good point. The non-liberalized states and cites are the problem. The states with socialistic leaders are doing great financially and social problems are minimal. I think of havens like Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, NY, CA and the other beacons of light that are leading the way.

It will be hard to avoid CA. I am going to miss using public restrooms that have signs saying: "All Genders." Now that liberals have helped mankind understand that the centuries old notion that there are only two genders has been debunked CA rest rooms are a true haven. Of course since it is a good place to shit in public I don't really see a need for restrooms at all.

What I don't understand is why so many people are fleeing from CA? But at least you are getting ride of people like my husband and I that work long hours and run a business that gives people jobs. Soon you will have the whole welfare state unto yourself. With nobody working, everybody shitting where they like, squatting all over the place and smoking dope it will be a model for the whole world.

I have loved every trip I've taken to California. I lived near Big Sur for a short while when I was a kid. Over the last 10 years, I've visited there over a.dozen times. Mostly to L.A.,but I took some time and camped in Yosemite National Park. Have to say, one of the most beautiful places on earth. At least that I've been to. I've driven up and down the coast, most of it anyway. I truly love Los Angeles! Maybe I wouldn't be as enthusiastic if I lived there and had to commute on a daily basis, but I love that city! It smells like a carnival,and everyone I've ran into has been friendly and helpful if I asked a question. People are fucking people man, their are just as weird everywhere you go. To hate it because it's liberal? Fuck, you must live in a fucking trailer park in Alabama. That's how stupid that comment was.

Totally agree, our beach trips were to Morro Bay. My brother and sister always tried to swim to Morro rock. I doubt either of them even came close. My brother about died in a rip tide one afternoon. That kind of ended our swimming days. I remember walking that beach with so much sand in my ass crack I didn't think I'd make it back! My sister kept telling me to go rinse it off in the ocean. We were stupid Iowa kids, we didn't understand how all that shit worked.

It is not a "liberal" vs "Conservative" thing that is causing all the problems with homelessness and drug abuse in California. It is not that simple. There are a host of problems that are not the fault of "liberal" politicians.

Denmark, Canada, and the Scandanavian countries have governments that would be considered liberal even by California standards- the government taxes the citizens more, and hands out more in return. But yet they don't have those kind of problems there to nearly the degree that the big Californian cities do.

Why? Well for a few reasons. First of all, the California coast has a mild climate that makes it much easier for homeless to survive the elements, hence they are more likely to be drawn there than, say, Minneapolis (which is hardly a bastion of conservatism.) Second, the cost of living in many parts of California is such that a person living there would need to make up to four times the wages that a person living in other states would, in order to afford housing. Up to four times! My 3 bedroom house is worth $300,000. This same house in San Francisco would be worth $1,200,000-1,500,000. This is the result of the tech industry which has pushed out other wage earners. The tech industry that has been fueled by pro-business (ie. conservative) politics.

Visit Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Mount Shasta, or the northwest coast; pretty much anywhere away from the cities and you will see the nice side of California and far less of the garbage you describe. Yes, that stuff is gross and disturbing but it is too easy, and a bit naieve, to scapegoat "liberals" here.
