I am damn sick and tired of all those little drooling doll things. Some of us are still on dial up and do you have any idea how long it takes for them to load?

Really you guys it is one of the reasons I rarely come here anymore. You take the time to let the damn things load and then find it is yet another one of those "what he said" or "Woo Hoo" filled strands.

Can't you just stick with the quotes? Those doll things remind me of something prepubescent girls collect.

BTW I hate all those fucking little dolls not the people. They are stupid and promote the idea that women are playthings.

The Macs have a problem translating all those little troll things and so slow down the loading time. I wouldn't mind if it was for a idea or a clever exchange of wit. It is just such a disapointment when it is just those troll things.

Deborah, I couldn't agree more. It's like one person had them and then the damn things just started showing up all over hell the next day. Even the guys have them now.

I don't like them not because they take forever to load, I'm on cable so that's not a problem. The reason I don't like them is that some of the servers you guys uploaded them to frankly SUCK and if one doll doesn't want to load, it slows down the loading time for the whole rest of the page and every other page that you posted on. Annoying as hell.

so i guess if you do use them, you run the risk of having less people read your posts ... your creative efforts overlooked ...

I have a 56K dial-up modem, and I never have a problem. I just scroll past so that I can read whatever the post says. Y'all should try that, because I'm not going to take the dolly that I searched for for 9 days on the net to find just because someone can't scroll past. *humph* (it's not a good time of the month to be bringing this up)

Obviously mine was originally adopted as a source of sarcasm. A friend of mine drew her for me specifically, and, as it turns out, I've grown rather attached to it.

The loading of the pages thing was a source of concern for me - a very legit quip that I asked a few people about. What I found out was that once the page appears on the thread you've clicked on, you can hit the "Stop" button and the text will be there for you even if the pix do not appear. The text loads up first and then the pix are downloaded by your system. This is true on ALL sites, BTW, so if you want to "read the articles" and are not all that interested in graphics, it will always work.

With all the other inconsiderate bullshit that goes on, I don't think the icons (even the ones I don't like) are causing any inconvenience that can't be sidestepped. Just like some of us have to sift through mindless banter we don't want to read, others can take that extra step and click on a "stop" button once in a while.

I will agree, I don't know why some people choose icons that are so obviously banal, but hey...I guess it reflects their self-image.

If you don't like mine, however, I'm sure you can sense by my icon itself just how much sleep I will lose over that.
