I was just threatened...

This might sound horribly ignorant on my part, but how does someone effectively threaten a basically anonymous person on a website? Who was/is this person? Which thread? How can I get threatened by this person so I can have some fun with him/her/it?

Go to a conservative Christian forum, have someone threaten to take your eye out because you said that most theists are in it for the afterlife benefits, rinse, lather, and repeat.

I don't know about you, but I get really scared by someone threatening my sight because I have a different opinion than he does. Particularly when I didn't know it was happening.

I've had a number of Christians and a couple of Catholics pick fights with me. They didn't come out of them too well. But I haven't been threatened. Was this here or on another site?

Wait a minute, don't you have to take an eye before you're expected to lose one?

Am I that far out-dated in the rules?

Not here. Another site. To my knowledge, there is no religious discussion board here at Lit.

And that is such a bummer. There's so much fun to be had in those.

...Apparently it doesn't really apply to religious OR political speech. I was told before by a Pagan I know that he'd beat me up if he saw me refusing to say the Pledge of Allegiance.

In the UK there is no such thing as the Pledge of Allegiance or saluting the Flag. Wearing the Union Jack as underwear is perfectly acceptable and seen as patriotic.

Unless you join the Armed Forces or become a Boy Scout, no one asks you to support your country. We just assume that you do. If you don't it's no big deal.

We sometimes moan about people who support the West Indies or Pakistan Cricket teams while living in this country but it is not a treasonable offence or even a misdemeanor just an anomaly.

That is a wonderfully simple mindset, and I do mean that in a good way. As Americans we have definitely over-complicated ourselves in a number of ways. "Live and let live" has become "Live the way I want you to live or get out of my country."

Being threatened is always a scary thing, because you never know how far someone will go to carry out that threat. When you're online, it's best to not leave a trail of bread crumbs to your door.

You can always threaten to pray for that person to have his/her eyes opened. Whether you are a Christian or not, quoting Bible phrases against doing harm and loving your brother tend to put the jerks back in there place.

For example, you can post something like this:

Recently, someone on this board threatened to take out my eye, because that person didn't agree with a post that I made. I feel very sorry for this person and will be praying that "the speck is removed from his/her eyes and that s/he understands Jesus healed the blind, not created them."

The New King James Version
Luke 6:42 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother's eye.

To your success :rose:
