I went to the gun show today and oh my gawd...

Thanks Bush man......

I knew I remembered something like that. Too bad they could never perfect it. In theory it could be way cool. And even if factors like the long firing rate were a given - if accuracy could improve with increased distance - one hell of a sniper weapon it could make.

Oh well. I'm sure someone is working on the concept somewhere. There are certain "things" in our current lives that simply bug me - they've been around too long.

One of'em's bullets. Another is the speaker paper in coned audio speakers. Air filled vehicle tires. Electric razors. Etc..

Hey Samuari, coincidentally one of my guns is a Mossberg Maverick 12 gauge. Love it. Light for a shotgun. Kick ain't bad. You can easily remove the barrel in case you want to take with and not be obvious.

Hey Samuari, coincidentally I have several HAVAHART traps and have got me some possum and just about anything else you can think of. Why didn't you just plug that critter? You wouldn't believe how ROFLMAO your story was to me. What a wus you are! You called the city to bring you a trap and then haul the critter away? You city slickers are something else.

Anybody try any sabots lately?

The only thing I ever messed around with that used sabots was a M61A1.

Hey Killer,
Go for the .44 version of the desert eagle, that sounds like the pistol for you. then you can get really knocked on your ass everytime you shoot it.
As for handguns, I'm very happy with my Ruger Blackhawk 44.

kinda new to the gun stuff but my dad used to take me to gun shows and to the range to shoot. He has a .22 survival rifle (the whole thing can be taken apart and stored in the stock) that is really fun to play with. he also has a mini-14 that has been rigged with a folding stock and other little things that is also fun but has a little bit of a kick. course, a good ol' double barrel shotgun is always a hoot. mostly now i shoot on my school's air rifle team which is kinda boring but good practice i guess. well there is my input for the night.

I have to say that while I love shooting my Type 56 (Chicom AKM), my favorite gun is still my Red Ryder Carbine Action 200 Shot Range Model Air Rifle.

Expertise,

As a tank commander I was the primary operator of the M85 .50 machine gun on my M60A1 tank. Same round as the Browning, but a different link on the ammo belts. It also had two rates of fire.

I have never fired one of the .50 BMG rifles, but they sound like a real interesting piece. I do use a .50 cal. muzzle loader for deer hunting, and that is as much fun as anything I have ever fired.

hmmm... somebody's been watching a Christmas Story....

I used to be a fairly decent shot.

The ex- was afraid to have a hand gun or rifle in the home for fear I'd shoot him one night when he was creeping in. *shrug* He got very adept at identifying himself before my throwing knives went sailing thru the air at his body, so I don't know what the diff would have been.

Now that the munchy's and I are on our own I've considered getting a small handgun. Problem is I always pick the REALLY expensive ones!

I learned to fire a rifle in the good ol' Girl Scouts. Same place the munchy's will if I have anything to say about it.

For home defence, nothing beats a 12 gauge pump action shotgun. it will stop any body, and most critters, does not have to be aimed, just point it in the right direction, and will not go through a wall, to hurt someone unintended. The pump action is reliable and makes an unique sound that was enough to save my wife from having to fire it...and they are realitivly inexpensive.

I'm bewitched and bewildered, and have no idea what you are saying. but I hope its something like come over her so I can fuck your brains out.

Ummm....no...

Attempting to recall highschool Japanese, (the phrase Thank you very much) which btw I was kicked out of the class for being a "stupid stupid girl".

But if the offer's still open....*g*

Two bits.

1-"Domo Arigato" is Japaneese for "thank you very much". One of the few things my love of anime has let me pick up... ;)

2-the current bullet design is in widespread use mostly because it's simple and effective. They're reliable, stable, fairly cheap to produce, and you can re-use the cases. All of the alternatives I can think of either are unreliable, like the Gyrojet idea, require too much engineering, such as a railgun, or are rather obsolete, like a crossbow...

BTW-for the non-firearms nuts or gamers amongst us, a railgun uses a series of magnets to hurl slugs, instead of chemical propellants like conventional bullets. Lots of potential, but very power-hungry and too new to be widespread yet. Lots of potential as tank cannons and the like, but handgun/rifle uses are awhile off. 8)

Talk about your loaded threads.

I don't need a gun, I just choke people.

Earthmuffin:

Damn, Damn Damn! Went to bed right after my last post, so I didn't see your reply 'till just now. Rain check ? I hope?

Actually, the best weapon for home defense/CQB is a flamethrower. Has some minor collateral damage issues, but nothing's perfect.

And railgun technology is in use. Volcano rollercoaster at Kings Dominion in Virginia and Superman the Ride somewhere in California are two that I can think of. A little bulky though...

Gotta love that new Technology, I had the chance to play around with the H&K G-11 caseless rifle a few years back when overseas, SWEET!!

This past week, I was able to check out their new rifle the G-36 and the replacement for the MP5, the UMP in 45ACP.

Now I know what to put on my Christmas list, right next to the lady in red. :p

Be carefull Muffin, he may have a hair trigger.jk
