As someone who posts in both halves of the forum, if you want to call it that, I would now like to add my two cents.
Yes, you are right. It's not good for the forum that so much hateful nonsense is being posted here.
I was warned. Don't talk to Americans about religion. They don't know that they don't have to change your beliefs. Don't talk to Americans about politics, they said. They don't know what that is.
Americans take everything personally, and if you don't agree with them, they get stressed.
It's true. Most of those in political positions just spread their narrow-minded worldview on topics they know nothing about.
At first I was curious. Then I was fascinated by how much ignorance can be used to justify lying to the world. Then I was horrified by how much hatred there is.
And then I got involved and wanted to counteract the madness.
It was pointless. I didn't achieve anything. Those who need to read it don't read it.

I blocked a bunch of people from PB, just so I wouldn't see their thread titles pop up.

But now I think I overdid it, and I might unblock some, but I can't remember exactly who they all were.

Is there a way to see a list of the people you have on Ignore?

My observation is that the people who go to Politics Board are a different group. Some overlap, of coursw, but mostly a different set of names.

Politics Board people enjoy argument and conflict. Most other Forum people tend to avoid it, or at least do much less of it.

Thread titles in Politics Board are intended to rally their oen supporters and inflame their opponents. To those of us who are here to "make love, not war," these extreme headlines are at minimum an eyesore, or quite often upsetting and offensive.

And then there are those who "touch themselves" while they express their disdain for the liberals of society.

I don't really get why it's here, this isn't a political website AFAIK. I guess to stop the threads from happening in other sections.

I did use it to ignore a bunch of people that seemed particularly ignorant and persistent which actually improved a lot of other threads so I guess it's been helpful that way.

yeah, that's the thing. It's two different groups. It doesn't seem like a lot of the same people going back and forth.

And the Politics Board people...doesn't even seem like a large group. It's a small number of people who are very prolific at posting and creating threads.

i suppose @cdstefi is right, maybe it's easier to just start ignoring those people one by one as their toxic threads pop up.

That is the best way. If you put the thread starters on ignore, you’ll stop seeing their threads. It’s only a handful of people.

Good Info. For me I just ignore it. I was just agreeing with the group that have the issue with it .
