Most times they fucked up somehow and have to switch to be someone else. I figure if I fucked up, then I need to face up to it and not be someone else.

Pretty much, or stuff both feet in their mouth at the same time, lol
I fucked up bad and I'm trying to make amends now. Just a judge of character in a way in how someone handles their mistakes I suppose.

Ignorance certainly would be a blessing to this point..But I can't change my perception of others by changing my name here. I'd be the same person, regardless of my handle .
It's others who'd need to re-invent themselves- and actually mean it- for my peace of mind.
But then again, no one but me needs to be concerned with my peace of mind. I don't expect others to change for my benefit, but would think they'd want to change for their own.

They don't have to 'be bad', they might simply want a fresh start after being around for years and years. Some have started new because they got off to a bad start.
I don't consider these ALTS, because they leave the old account dormant or have it deleted. ALTS are two accounts, or more, being used at the same time.
