If you are having a lengthy delay in publishing, please add the name of your story and when submitted here.

I have two stories pending since Dec 2 and Dec 3.
A story edit pending since Nov 28
And a story I submitted today.

Is this lag now routine? Or is there something the reason?

My Group Sex story that I originally submitted in September is still Pending and I deleted my Winter Holiday story because it was stuck in Pending too long to make the contest. However, since then, I've had two Romance stories approved the next day.

I've resubmitted the Group Sex story three times now, so I've submitted a bug report to see if that does anything. It worked to get my activity counts fixed, so I have my fingers crossed.

So… after several deletion and resubmission, the next 2 part of my story is set to be published. I’m going to share exactly what I did, hopefully it might help someone.

I submitted ch9 of my story on November 15th, but after a day, the pending clock restarted. I’m pretty confident now that whenever the restart happens, it means a story has been flagged for suspected AI use and will likely sit in pending hell for a long time awaiting notice of rejection.

After my third delete and resubmit, I noticed the restart. Instead of waiting the 15 days, I immediately deleted the story, edited it again and resubmitted. I did this a couple of times, always watching for the restart. On the 4/5th attempt, the restart didn’t happen and the story sat in pending for 3 days before finally getting a publish date.

The constant editing was quite annoying, it could even be argued that I was dumbing the story down. But I considered it a test, and a more preferable option than letting the story sit in pending hell.

I know it seems like a lot of work, and it might not even work for everyone. But I just thought to share in case someone needs new ideas on what to try.

Note: ch10 of my story wasn’t edited once, it also didn’t get the timer reset. It seems getting ch9 through the system also got it through.

Interesting data.
I assumed that the clock reset happened for everyone? When I submitted my story, the reset also happened, and I waited over a week, but then the story was finally published.

Perhaps, I might be wrong and there’s no reason to it.

But whenever the clock reset happens, my story never sees the light of day. It just sits for a long time before getting rejected

I've never had one actually get rejected, but I've only noticed the next day reset on the two stories that have not yet been published. My last two stories were approved and given a publication date without that reset.

Forgive me but the “clock reset” … can someone explain that to me.

I do not understand what the clock reset is.

Thank you for helping an old woman out

When you submit your story, your story automatically starts pending, and the time since the submission is displayed. But it often happens that after your story gets processed by Laurel or something automated, your story, which was pending for, say, 7 hours, suddenly resets and shows as if freshly submitted.

Oh, thank you for explaining that. I will say, I have never noticed a new or reset clock time.

The two I have pending are still the same days which I submitted them, 11/24 & 11/25.

The clock sometimes reset after only hours, so it doesn’t change the date of submission.

Go to your “my activity” tab, then click on the title of the submitted story. Does it show “Error 404” or “Story Pending Moderator approval”

If it’s the former, the clock did reset, you just didn’t notice.

I've never received a 404 error when clicking on a story after the clock reset. It always pulls up the draft just fine.

I don’t mean clicking on your pending story.

You have to go on “my activity” tab section. You’ll see something like this:

“You’ve successfully submitted a story”

Click on the story title. What do you see?

Thank you Es. I am really not that tech savvy.

They both say “Pending Moderator Approval ….”

So this could then mean several things, many have been listed here. The pending purgatory or what I would surmise a worst case, blackballed / black listed.

If they both say pending approval, then the clock didnt reset. I suggest you just leave it and wait.

I’m sorry it’s taking so long.

People don't get black listed or banned for submitting stories. A story might get lost in a technical glitch, or it will be rejected or published. Your suggestion of a ban or a black list is paranoia, there's no basis to think that.

Thank you @ElectricBlue being paranoid is my downfall. Things were flowing really smoothly then the glitch happened. I have been trying to post these two chapter now gojng on five weeks.
I admitted to Laurel in my last PM I lack patience.
Thank you again.

I do hope your story gets over the line, but it doesn't help you or anyone else to introduce notions of bans or blacklists, when they don't happen. It's a technical fuck up, not a conspiracy, and like everyone else, I want it to get sorted out.

My list of stories in the pending queue. All stories that were resubmitted were originally submitted before 11/5/2025. If a story is rejected, does anyone have any insight or used an upfront editor reference? BTW, I would love to have a volunteer editor, but I haven't been very successful in finding one.

Note: during 11/1 and 11/24, I had four other stories submitted for the first time and published with little or no delay. My writing style hasn't changed, so I am confused by the apparent random approval and publication. One of the four was a contest submission, and one was in a category that doesn't get an abundance of submissions.

Three edits pending since Oct. 24 here - my series appears out of order in my profile because of rogue commas in the titles, so I'm trying to standardize them and fix a couple of continuity errors. It would be worse if it was a new submission, I suppose.

Using Occam's razor, the most likely reason for pending purgatory (random stories never seeing human eyes) is a glitch/bug/gremlins in the 20+ year old CMS.

It's my (perhaps incorrect) understanding that metadata only changes, such as fixing titles, tend to be handled faster, because Laurel doesn't have to review the story again before completing the edit. You just have to specify what part(s) you are changing in the Note To Admin.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

Currently I have 3 stories pending over 15 days.
  • 1 REsubmitted 11/10
  • 1 REsubmitted 11/11
  • 1 (new story) submitted 11/15
I haven't bothered writing anything in the last 3 weeks. Feels like a waste of time.

Actually I'm pretty depressed about the whole thing.

I feel almost the same way. I've resubmitted a story 3 times now, and I'm still waiting. It's a follow-up chapter to a story that got published in one day. I was working on a subsequent chapter, but stopped. I'm not depressed, but it's discouraging.

We write for free and deserve at least the courtesy of a response to inquiries on where our stories are in the queue.

Very sorry to hear 😢
