I'm an ignore list virgine. Twenty or so forums over six or so years, and I haven't put anyone on ignore yet.

I'm always curious if anyone else has ignored me, and really wish that BB boards would tell you that...

I have made threads where people can sign up to be ignored by me.

They can. You won't see them though.

Some of this is dependent on the interface you're using. When I was using an old skin if I put someone on ignore, I still saw their threads. I've since changed my skin.

I go in cycles.

I take Lit breaks and then I come back, and everything's funny and amusing and an experiment in human nature. I'm fascinated and involved.

Then the repetition of ugly gets to me, I'm less amused, it's less funny, I lose my interest in tinkering and learning and I feel more antagonized.

I do know that once I start putting people on ignore, it's the beginning of the end. I become even more irritated by the idea that I choose not to see certain things, and on that basis I stop logging on.

Right now my ignore list consists of zero people.

When I start putting people on ignore, I know it's shorthand for "time to take a break."

I hope you find a good equilibrium where you are getting what you want. Mine's an all or nothing proposition. When I lose my interest, compassion or my sense of humor it's time to go until it's fun again.

Right now I'm just in a state of not entering certain threads or rising to certain forms of bait that are often fun and interesting, but I'm burned out on because I've learned all I can from them for now.

I like to agree and dis-agree and occasionally lighthearted verbal jabbin and insulting, thats part of us as writers. We say what we feel, and sometimes strongly say what we feel. I like that.

But lately, here, I see things I don't want to see. That makes me sad, but I don't want to leave. I am trying to change, adapt, and stay a part of the AH.

Because I love it.

A bit like loving ice cream but having an exposed nerve in your mouth. The sweetness and craving are satisfied, just a little bit of bite to it.

However, once the sweetness and craving are gone and getting a little old...there's that ol' exposed nerve, just as pissed off. Only the ice cream flavor's faded all that's left is throbbing OW.

When I feel I'm being particularly masochistic and the payoff just isn't there, time to go.

I know I'm on some folks ignore list because of my sig. . . that's just sad.

I use virtual ignore.

I just assume that anything that person posts is invisible to me.

It saves bothering about maintaining ignore lists.

Virtual ignore can be switched on and off with no effort at all.

I have three on ignore. Two of them because I can't stand seeing them flood the first page of the AH with threads, and one because I hate the av and the person doesn't have anything worthwhile to contribute to anything anyway. You don't know what lesbian spiders can do to each other with threads - or do you?

My hat may get you hot but the black pantyhose part of my costume makes me hot when they're not slipping down my legs. They don't do black pantyhose in Henry VIII size.
