It was a local, fantasy/battle metal type band, the leader singer pulled me up and asked my name and said something like "This motherfucker is a fuckin' warrior(excl.), kneel before this motherfucker(excl.) Alas for the young warrior
who at Doon Rock did fall
A bullet had found him
who in prowess bested all.
Mighty was he, proud,
warlike, was this son of Dun nGall.
His sword flashed bright
and to battle did he call,
Steely men and fierce,
the bravest of brave, warriors of Tir Conall
He burned Londonderry
among the Saxons he stood tall
fighting at the fore of every battle
he died well, as befit a true Gael.

Alas, for the mighty chieftain
Cahir Rua, Saxon's Bane.
There was no match for him
amongst any knight or thane.
He died as a warrior ought
and glory did he gain.
He saw the suffering of Erin
his peoples sadness caused him pain.

Alas for Cahir Rua
Son of the Destroyer,
Last of the great warrior folk.
