Okay, then the official call to arms has been put out by the Magistrate. You would expect to see posters put up that issue the call to arms. And the call to arms would be to go march out against the army, it would be to help fortify the city. Plus, it would be a little early for the people to start fleeing in such numbers, seeing as how the call went out just after sunrise. That Magistrate is a smart man. He would figure that the people would try to escape the draft by exiting the city, so therefore he would have informed the guards at the gates beforehand so they can stop eligible men from escaping. They just might decide to stop Alex, thinking that he's a local and therefore obligated to the call to arms.![]()
