I'm Now a Groovy Granny!

Today I visited Daniel and Melissa in hospital for the last time. They come home tomorrow. Melissa is radiant but exhausted. She lost a full nights sleep while in labor and hasn't caught it up. In fact, she's had very little sleep since Daniel was born.

Daniel is doing very well. The nursing staff have commented on how strong he is, in particular his neck.. he's able to lift his head up for short periods. And today, he rolled from his back to his side in his basinette. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself.

Then he capped if all off my smiling at granny. Melissa insisted he had wind, but I don't believe that for a minute!

enjoyingitall thank you for your good wishes for Daniel. I'm sure that with all of the love that surrounds him, he's going to have a wonderful life ahead of him.

I love little Daniel as much as a Granny can.. but I don't feel like one.. or at least what I conder a Granny to be.

I guess he and I can grow up together... that could be fun!

He's a beautiful little boy, he's already showing his personality.

Shane is looking better, Melissa is still very tired. She missed a whole nights sleep while in labour and hasn't had a chance to catch up yet.

My family is growing.. its a lovely feeling. Next month my sons baby will be born.

Thanks knightstalker for asking about my family.

Melissa and Daniel came home today. I called in to drop off a small heater for his room. The big drive home (30mins) wore him out and he slept for a solid 6 hours. A first for him.

Shane has caught a cold and isn't well at all, which is a real pity. Melissa is looking much better, she's managed to catch up on some sleep.

Now that they're home, I'm sure they'll settle in and things will ease off for them.

Pity about granny though... she's kinda worn out. I didn't sleep at all the night that Daniel was born, and I've been running around doing errand for the new family ever since, as well as visit them in hospital. So I'm hoping that things will quieten down just a tad for me too.

And yes, my daughter in law is due to deliver in four weeks. She's doing very well. No problems with blood pressure there. So it's just a waiting game with her now.

But they don't live here in Western Australia. Chris and Samantha live in Guernsey, so I'll miss most of the excitement of that birth.

Just think, both of my children married last year. Melissa in April and Chris in June. At the time I didn't think that things could ever be as exciting as then. Now I know that I was wrong.

Awwwwwwwwwww LB....just found this thread ...how thrilling....I remember my first 29 yrs ago...now I have 9 grandkids, 6 greatgrandkids and 2 on the way.....

Wow, you are the first person I have met online who has relatives in Guernsey! My grandparents live there, and I have been going there since I was a baby. It's beautiful. Have you been there yet?
