Why do we all put ourselves through it- don't they reckon we work longer average hours in the UK than most other European countries?

I'm effectively between jobs at the minute, took redundancy a few weeks back from a job I'd grown to hate and I'm getting by on bits of part-time and temporary work for a short time until I can sort out a new job- it's only since I stopped doing it that I realised how many hours I used to work above and beyond what I was contracted to do....

Hubby worked sun-Fri regularly until he decided to go selfemployed. Effectively he can pick & choose but, he obviously doesn't want to turn work down. He normally only has to work a 3 or 4 day week, but has been mad busy recently. It's just the way it goes

At least being self-employed in theory gives you more control over how many hours you work- until you get really busy and that theory goes out of the window....Must be tough being away from you so much though...
