Imagine a culture where brother-sister incest is a lifelong arrangement, so that a sister is automatically her brother's mistress. And this doesn't change because either of them gets married. In fact, both of them are expected to get married.

The husbands claim the children automatically, knowing that other men are doing the same favor for them, and there is a good chance that they could still be the fathers themselves.

So every family gathering leaves an opportunity to screw your sister.

This also cuts down on STDs by giving a safer alternative for sexually frustrated men and women. And brings families closer....;)

I like this idea.

So, they're expected to keep at it even after marriage, hmm? I wonder if threesomes/foursomes/swapping would be considered acceptable.

And while we can't really discuss it in story, one wonders how early they're expected to start...

They might happen, but the main idea is more of a European-style understanding that one simply accepts it and spends time with both wife and sister (or husband and brother).

And strangely, parental incest is still frowned upon.

We'll leave it at 18 for Lit purposes....but other sites are a different deal.

Great, but leave out the part about STDs and other negative aspects of reality (naked farts included).

In other words, Pharaonic Egypt. I recommend Ancient Evenings by Norman Mailer, but only after a stiff drink.

Would there be any attempt to explain why people aren't having horrible incest mutations? Being serios here, I am curios to see what idea's you have on that subject...thats if your going to address it at all.

I noticed that in Magic Litland (that's not a slam, I'd like to live there!) that a lot of quirky things happen, or don't happen when logically, they could. Pregnant women are able to lactate before giving birth, stds tend not to happen, intersexed people (formally known as hermaphrodites) are quite common without medical intervention and have ALL functioning male and female organs, up to and including lactating before they gave birth. ;) I'd guess that a lot of people wouldn't mention or bring up the possible negative aspects of inbreeding. But going off the spot where Severusmax said "The husbands claim the children automatically, knowing that other men are doing the same favor for them, and there is a good chance that they could still be the fathers themselves. " there may be enough genetic variation (because your brother is not necessarily is your uncle's child, and even if he is, you may not be either!)

So silly question, what happens if she or he is an only child?

That's when you hope your cousin is an only child.

I have a feeling this may have been very commen during the stone age. There where a lot of "Genetic bottle necks" back then.

Of course....it's Lit. Hence, it's fantasy.

what if a brother and sister marry another brother/sister?

what happens in a family with two girls, no boys...does the "sister rule" apply?

Good questions....a lesbian affair, perhaps?

On the other one...that might be interesting.

Oooo sign me up for marrying twins, I could so stand to have two husbands. ;)

Okay law number two. When you marry someone in this culture you also marry there siblings.

That would lead to a lot of group marriages, with both polyandry and polygyny at the same time. An excellent balance if you ask me. They could live together and not need to consider each other paramours.

Hmm.. If there's close relatives nearby, then you recruit a few cousins. Especially helpful if you have two girls or two boys who aren't bi. I suppose the same would work for gay kids.

I think thats great. I love the idea of an incestuous extended family, where families and couples trade or loan each other out, have holidays and times where they swap partners or kids for a while, that is a really hot idea. And as a bi guy I think that family members that are in that environment are more likely to be bi as well.
