I guess the point was that in the all-time list of most-read stories, the first ten spots are all taken by I/T stories, and many of them share common tropes.

It's hardly surprising, although it is a bit discouraging for the rest of us who don't write I/T. But readers want what readers want.

I think the consistency among that list is surprising, certainly to me, and Ive been writing and reading stories here for decades. In all that time, I've never looked at that list until today.
I know incest is popular here, and I think that's one of the things that makes Literotica unique.

Even I, who never read that category, have written a couple of mom/son and father/daughter incest stories, where the relationship adds frisson, but the main theme is femdom.

I think this is true. I also don't understand why it would bother anybody. Sure, incest stories get more views at Literotica (and at other sites) than other types of stories, but other types of stories get a lot of views, in an absolute if not relative sense, as well.

You have to adjust your view expectations based on the type of story you write. That's just the way it is. There are plenty of authors at Literotica who get very impressive view numbers without writing incest stories.

Yeah, that's mostly the result of manipulation.

First and foremost, when you viewed the category for several years, there was no hub. It simply loaded up the full list of stories in the category. The author in question realized that quotation marks sorted to the very top of the list at the time, which meant that the first thing anyone saw when looking for an incest story was his two masterpieces. ( The other is "Daddy," I whispered ) I don't say 'masterpieces' ironically. At least for the body of his work, they were the best he ever turned out by a long shot. How they compare to anything else is in the eye of the beholder.

That meant a huge boost to views in and of itself. Add in spamming links to it all over creation, ( not just here ) a refresh finger with calluses an inch thick, plus a horde of sock-puppets, and he positioned himself on the toplists.

His shenanigans are why the category view was eventually changed to a random page on the category, rather than the first. The introduction of the hubs also switched up the alphabetization sorting order to switch it to numbers instead of punctuation appearing at the top, but that could have been coincidence rather than design.

Despite eventually losing his initial boon of essentially plonking those down as a giant billboard in front of anyone looking for family fun, he'd already gotten high enough on the toplists from that manipulation to continue to attract attention. And it was on lists ( favorites and views ) that can't be bombed, so they more or less are locked there into perpetuity.

Yeah... it's hilarious when the 18/19, I think I saw 21 once, year old son of sound mind, body, and even has a drivers license... needs their mom to show them how to masturbate... many times.
