Into the Bat Cave~Closed~

Jeremy shook his head, "Nope, I haven't taken a day off in a couple of years, I have tons of time I have to use before I lose it at the end of the year."

Jeremy chewed his food slowly, watching her surreptitiously through his eyelashes while he did so. He watched her dainty bites and the way her jaw moved slowly while she chewed. He was amazed at how sexy he found it, and truth be told by her.

"How about you? If you just started, are you sure you can take the time off?" he asked, concern is his voice.

Well...she could, she supposed. She wasn't quite certain how they handled things.
However, she did own Wayne Corp. What harm would it do? "Well, I don't think it'll do too much harm, I mean...they were just giving me a tour..." Oh why not tell him. It wasn't like he KNEW her grandfather was batman and even if he did..

It wasn't like he'd know that Allison was Bat Girl.

"I work for Wayne Corp, I'm...kinda the head honcho ...or whatever." Allison said, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier, just ya know with that sort of business, you don't really know who wants to go out with you for the money and who doesn't care."

Jeremy's eyes widened as his brows shot up. "You are Allison Wayne?" The shock was evident in his voice as he blurted out the question, then he quickly recovered, and said, "Sorry. That took my by surprise is all."

Looking off into the distance a moment, Jeremy shrugged, "Doesn't change anything. You are still beautiful, and nice."

A crooked grin creased his face, "I would bet the vast majority of people are looking at your money, even the ones that are closest to your income bracket, maybe especially them."

"Yep, thats me..." she said.

She waited for something, anything from him. Something to show that he would be like most guys and say something like ask her how much she makes a year and what not.

He didn't though, instead he agreed with her. She smiled at him, "Yeah, a vast majority. You aren't part of that majority though, are you?" She said, it was more of a statement than a question though.

"Anyways, shall we go? I'm eager to take that walk with you." Her brown eyes gleamed with excitement.

"Why of course," Jeremy replied as he bounded to his feet.

Dropping enough money on the table to cover the lunch he walked around the table and scooted the chair back for Allison as she stood. As they walked toward the exit, he proffered her his elbow gallantly, and asked, "What do you do in your spare time, Allison?"

"Oh...I like to read." Allison responded. It wasn't a very exciting thing. "You know I like putting myself in my own little fantasy world of books." She said, flushing. Gosh she sounded so lame. "I enjoy mostly adventures. Call me a thrill seeker." She said.

There was a second of silence before she asked, "What about you? What do you do in your spare time?"

"Spare time? Oh, I suppose I have little enough of that," Jeremy said. "For the most part, I excercise, try to stay in something resembling decent shape, read journals to keep up to date on the latest and greatest techniques in dealing with those that need my help, and I love to museum and spend hours lost in the paintings and sculptures."

As they exited the restaraunt, Jeremy steered Allison toward the park. The sun peeked out from behind white fluffy clouds and highlighted Allison's hair, almost dazzling Jeremy as it glimmered like a precious metal.

Jeremy's breath caught a moment as he glanced at her sidelong. "I am glad Batgirl ditched me for you," he teased gently.

"Paintings? What sort of paintings? I ean I enjoy looking at art but Ive never been artistic myself." Allie closed her mouth realizing she was rambling again."Beautiful day huh." she said as two birds passed them and chirped happily.

She glanced over at him"And for the record...you are doing a good job at resembling a shape."

Lame her conscious screamed. What was wrong with her?

Smiling at his compliment she said"Me too..." if only he knew the truth.

Jeremy's eyes flicked over to Allie at her compliment, and said nothing in return.

"Cubism," he replied. After a moment he continued, "Sometimes looking at a good piece of art in that style is like looking into someone's mind, making order of the natural disorder that is there."

Acknowledging the compliment at last, Jeremy touched Allie's forearm lightly, almost a caress. "How about you? Do you like art?"

Nodding her head she said"Yeah I like art." She shivered at his light touch which tickled slightly. "I dont really have a favorite genre of it but I do enjoy it.." Againthere was silence. Why oh why couldnt she think of somthing to say?

"So Im just curious...what peaked your interest in bat girl, anyways? "

When he had given her his number she had been rather shocked. After all Batgirl wasnt exactly the girl a guy would want to take hometo mommy and daddy. She didnt voice this opinion though in fear that she might offend.

" i mean no offense or anything but isnt that like...asking I dunno the joer out on a a date. "

" i mean no offense or anything but isnt that like me...asking I dunno the joker out on a a date. "

Jeremy grinned with a lopsided tilt. "Well I doubt that Batgirl would rape me and kill me. Whereas it is 50-50 that the joker would to you."

He shrugged and said, "Why not? I had nothing to lose really. Either she would say yes or no. And I got to meet you as a bonus."

Jeremy stopped and turned toward Allie. "Why did you agree with her giving me your number?"

Call me lonely and desperate she quipped silently to herself. She shrugged,"Well by how she described you, you seemed interesting. Besides I'm not much of a dater so... I thought I'd give it a try."

She grinned at Jeremy,"And don't worry she only had good things to say about you."

Wanting to get off the topic of her alter ego, Allie said,"So tell me about your family, are you close to your parents? What were you like as a kid?"

A feeling of desperation and loneliness poured out of Allie as if a dam were about to burst. For a split second he considered delving deeper into that emotion, coaxing it into an ever blacker hole.

Deciding against it, Jeremy shrugged, saying, "It was one of those typical broken home things. I never saw my father, never met him, so I only know what others have told me about him and that was all bad."

As they turned a corner onto the street that would eventually deliver them at the gallery, Jeremy continued, "As far as mother goes, I guess you can say she is the reason I do what I do. Or at least why I got into psychology."

His eyes flicked over to Allie as he finished, "She spent most of her life in Arkham."

Nodding her head at his childhood story she raised her eyebrow at him,"Was your mother a nurse or...." Allie blushed and looked away."I'm sorry that's none of my business." Most of the psychos who'd at one time gone against her grandfather had been put away at Arkham, so it was in her nature to want to know these things.

However there would be no way that he'd be related to someone like that, he was too...normal.

"If your mother was at Arkham doing whatever who took care of you then?" she asked, rather curious about his life. No matter how nice he was, he was a real mystery man. "Sorry if I'm asking too many questions. My grandfather used to tell me that I was way too curious for my own good.."

Jeremy's hand caressed Allie's forearm down to the back of her hand, a light encouraging touch. "Oddly, for whatever reason, I don't mind talking about it with you."

He walked a moment or two in silence working out how to answer Allie's question best. "The first place I remember was with my Grandmother; which was not pleasant or unpleasant really. I guess I was too young to know."

As they walked along Jeremy inched closer to Allie, slowly working his way into her space without alarming her; before long his arm brushed against hers occassionally.

"After that was a series of foster homes. The best of which was merely negligent of those of us living with them. The worst of which..."

Jeremy paused trying to figure out where he was headed with the answer, too much came out unbidden, and then concluded, "The worst of which should probably have been in Arkham with my mother."

Allie shivered as his hands brushed up and down her forearm. Though she wasn't quite sure how to respond to each statement. She brushed her fingers through her dark hair.

"Well, at the risk of sounding like a therapist; how bad was it, living with your mother?" She asked, still geniunely curious, "Wait, if you lived with your mother in the Arkham asylum...then she was...she was admitted there?"

She swallowed hard, wondering if that was the case, would she ever have to battle with his mother. Allison didn't think Jeremy would ever be her enemy, he seemed way too...not crazy.

Jeremy nodded slowly, "Yes she was a patient there." He let the answer hang there a moment or two before continuing, "She never left until she passed away."

Shivering a moment, Jeremy said, "Enough of that eh? It is far too beautiful a day to let that hang over us."

"Oh..." she murmured softly, not sure how she was supposed to respond to that. His mother had been in the Arkham Asylum. Technically, they could be considered enemies since practically half of the villains that were placed there were by her grandfather.

"I'm sorry to hear that. You're right! Lets change the topic." She put on a bright cheery smile.

"So, when you're not analyzing someone's character, what do you do for fun?" she asked. Nuetral topics were best as they couldn't bring up anything terribly horrible...unless he were some serial killer who enjoyed killing people for fun but that was totally way off the mark. It'd be way too coincidental.

"Well," Jeremy said, "I spend a lot of time enjoying as much beauty as I can. Art, music, literature, what ever may catch my fancy." Glancing up at the white puffy clouds dancing along in the sky, "And even the odd day cloud watching."

Jeremy paused as they approached the museum doors as a a stray thought crossed his mind. "How is it you know Bats anyway? I mean it I can't believe that she has a list a people that she hands phone numbers of guys who hit on her out to. Does she?"

She stiffened at that question and searched her mind for a quick excuse. "We're best friends. Known each other since well, since forever." Which was not a lie, at all. She had known herself since well forever. "Lets just say, I know the real her and we'll keep it at that." She looked up at him with a twinkle in her eye.

"Besides, so far this blind date is going pretty well, better than the ones I've had in the past..." She played with the tip of her dark hair then playing it off she asked, "How did you two meet, anyways. She didn't give me any details just said you seemed like a nice guy...if its not too forward of me to ask."

"Oh I was at a nightclub last night where there was a disturbance that she took care of." The memory of Bat's skin tight suit flitted across his mind a moment, causing a smile to crease his face. "Let's say I was smitten by her, and followed her into an alley, where I asked her out."

Glancing at Allie, he quipped, "I am glad she said no."

Allie could see that look of desire on his face and could only imagine what he was thinking about before he said he was glad she said no. She wasn't sure if she was jealous of her alter ego or slightly flattered.

She grinned, "And as I've said, I'm glad she said no too." Her brown eyes sparkled mischieviously.

Glancing at the museum door, she smiled at him. "We going inside or not?"

Jeremy's eyes found Allie's and he whispered hoarsely, "I doubt very much anything with in those doors are half as beautiful as you."

His left hand reached out and grasp the large bronze handle of the door and tugged it open, "Madam," he said softly.

As Alliw stepped past him, the scent of her perfume wafted up to his nostrils and moment of delirious desire swept over him. Stepping in after her, he placed his hand on the small of her back, half way between the top of her skirt and the swell of her buttocks.

His voice was low as he whispered, "Your family's donations are upstairs and straight back, care to take a look?"

She blushed at his remark, stepping inside after he opened the door. At his suggestion, she nodded her head mutely. Chills slowly tingled down her body as his hand found the small of her back. Right now, her mind was not on any sort of art at the moment.

Looking into his eyes, again she nodded mutely, finding no words to speak. It was odd the effect he had over her, after only a short time around him. She couldn't make out what sort of cologne he was wearing but it overwhelmed her senses.

"Lead the way..." came her own hoarse voice after finally building the strength to speak.
