Into the future (closed for Asa)

Nadia tilted her head to the side sniffing at the tears and nuzzled like a like the animals of the wild would to console. This close a few well faded scars are visible as if from surgeries and testing. One of the books talks of testing by the Scientific order to help advance and empower mankind.

We go to Jahee? Jahee talk to you... you learn from Jahee.

She did not struggle to leave though clearly the "confinement" of being held set her on edge.

Nadia had a strange way about her something that Rex just couldn’t put his finger on. She was like sniffing his face then nuzzling up to him in an odd sort of way. He still wasn’t sure that Nadia was all that comfortable being held by him. Then she said something about going to Jahee. That he might learn from Jahee. Rex had no idea how far they would have to travel to get to this Jahee so he very carefully stacked the 20 or so books that she had brought out from the library in a safe out of the way location. He figured that sometime soon he would have to get back here and read more about the future US of A. “OK we go to see Jahee. Nadia, I will follow you.” Rex picked up his knapsack ready to head out to who knows where to meet Jahee, who ever that might be.

Nadia hurried through the ruins quickly leaping here and there when she had to and running some of th e way till they came to a almost turtle shell looking metallic "building". She banged her hand against one of the panels calling out.

Jahee wake an Ancient one is here. Jahee!!!

The building itself seemed to manifest eyes and then a face on one of the panels.

Nadia... you have been gone... in hiding again I can tell with how you speak... enter and work on speaking I will speak with the Ancient soldier.

After she moved to another panel and vanished within the strange building.

Ancient Soldier Designation and last known year date?

The face looked to him. It was fairly realistic like a photo given life as it were. An older male wearing a clearly military uniform of his own though the insignias were nothing Rex would recognize.

Rex tried to keep up with Nadia as best he could, often times seeming like he would loose sight of her. Then she came to a stop in front of a very strange domed looking metal building. She banged on the side of the structure calling out to Jahee. Something similar to a picture materialized on one of the panels of this strange building and a voice came from out of nowhere. Nadia moved towards another panel of the building and in the blink of an eye vanished. Rex was getting a very uneasy feeling and kept his right hand on the grip of his revolver still in it’s holster. It was then that the voice apparently was speaking to him. “Ancient Soldier Designation and last known year date?” Thinking back to his training Rex remembered that when captured the only information that he was supposed to provide was his name, rank and serial number. “I am Lt. Rex Burten of the United States Army Air Corp. serial number 3191549948. It was December 14,1944 when I landed where I am right now. Could you possible tell me what the date is now as I have a feeling that some how I have traveled forward in time without knowing just how it has happened.”

WWII pilot... December 1944... processing. To follow your month based calendar it is... December 23 2288. What do you remember before landing Lt Burten?

What questions do you have for me. While Nadia works on understanding the need others have for communication and how better to explain herself when talking. She endured much in the labs of the Scientific Order her fear of any other human runs very deep and overwhelming at times to her.

“You have to be kidding, 2288? You expect me to believe that somehow I have traveled 344 years into the future? Is this some form of secret German installation? Just before I landed I was shot at by a German fighter and I returned fire and shot his sorry ass out of the sky then I flew threw a very strange storm with lightning all around. My gauges and radio were all knocked out so I landed here.” the longer Rex spoke the more agitated he became. “You seriously want to know all the questions I have for you? How much time do you have? For starters where the hell am I and where did Nadia go? I have no reason to want to hurt her and I was getting sort of attached to her. Secondly who the hell are you anyway. Why don’t you come out and show yourself. Are you going to tell me how I can possible get back to my time and the war?”

Time frame stated is correct. Germany fell during that war and... well this will make the explanation easier. The screen changed and the history from his time reference played out showing him first WWII and then the time between until Korea and then Vietnam and pausing between each segment of history for questions.

After about an hour Nadia reappeared and walked over watching the screen with him in silence until it got up to where the Scientific Order took over. She began to hiss and snarling backing from the screen. Jahee paused the recording and spoke, Nadia your Ancient friend must know it is alright. You know the Order here in Old land is destroyed and can not cause you any more harm. Calm yourself so that he can learn unless the Lt merely wishes to ask question from here on out?

“Jahee who or what are you? Why is Nadia so angry at this Scientific Order and what the heck is the Scientific Order any way? Are there other people around here? And again where the hell am I anyway? I’m assuming that this is the planet Earth. What does one do for food, sustenance around here anyway. I have but only a little more ration left in my pack and I am getting very hungry. Where does Nadia live? Does she live like a wild animal? I could go on for days with questions. But I guess my most important question is how do I get back to my time?”

Jahee returned to the previous face and looked to him. I am holographic replica 722 designation Jahee... by Nadia.

The scientific order rose to power while the rest of the world was too focused on war and more war to keep a watchful eye on the Scientific community. By the time they realized what was happening it was too late. Yes there are other refugees lingering around Old land. Yes this is earth and the designation from your time would be London. Food is what can be found of the ancients as Nadia calls them or what can be hunted and killed.

Nadia hates and fears the Scientific Order because of them abducting her and running experiments upon her. With her permission I will show you the recorded documentation they made of the experiments and tests they ran on her transforming her DNA by melding it with that of the wild cats and wolves who are now long extinct.

Nadia go find something for the Ancient one to eat.

Nadia nods. Confined food like you are earlier or wild?

As for you getting home Jahee paused.. If another such bomb is fired it could make another rift but there is no way to assure it would take you home or just drop you out in another time period.

Once Nadia left Jahee played the Orders research recordings of what all happened to Nadia.

Rex watched the screen as recordings of research that was perpetrated on Nadia. It was horrible the things that this young girl was put through. The tests were grueling and often times left her near death. From what he observed it was a miracle that she had survived.
“Jahee, STOP. I’ve seen enough. What has come of this Scientific Order? What government now rules the planet. What is a holographic replica 722? If you are machine then where is your power source? Are the ancients as Nadia refers to them living near hear?" Then it hit him. The US Consulate, there would have been one in London. Now if only he knew where it had been. Rex waited for Nadia to return with some food. He felt so much sadness for her and what she had had to endure.

Holographic replica 722 merely means that I am a communications and historical reference device. My power source in within this unit but it is fed by the other units planet wide. The Ancients are those who no longer exist. Long ago the bombs created such tears within time and several came back through but they were wiped out long ago.

Nadia walked back over with some sort of creature tossed over her shoulder though on closer inspection its throat was ripped out. Clearly now it was visible that what the scientists did to her has greatly affected who she is making her very human but very animal.

"If the ancients no longer exist then who does exist? Who maintains the power sources. Are the only ones alive on this planet like Nadia, the result of horrific testing by so called scientists?
Is there no government left?"
Rex was getting exhausted trying to take in all that he had seen and heard. Just then Nadia came back to where he was with some animal tossed over her shoulder. On closer insection he noticed that the throat of this animal had been ripped out. Rex winced thinking that what the scientists had done to her was terrible. He wondered if she would ever be able to feel any real human emotion. "Nadia, how can we build a fire to cook this animal? Do you have any kind of device that will do that? We can't continue to build fires out of library books, they don't provide much heat and you sure can't cook on that kind of fire. Nadia why don't you show me where you live. I won't hurt you. I only want to be your friend."

Beings like me... beings that the bombs changed... some normal humans like you but they fade quickly. Jahee and the others like him can heal themselves and give us things like healing pad. She gestures back the way they came and then around where they are now. This is my home.

Jahee is fire house healed?

Yes Nadia repairs completed today.

We will take there.. dangerous but can cook food there.

Turning she headed off that way.

Nadia headed off to what Rex understood to be a firehouse. He ran to catch up with her and slowed down to walk by her side. His hand brushed her hand. He wondered what she would do if he took her hand in his. He wasn't quite sure that she was up to that just yet. "Nadia, you say this is your home. Where do you sleep? Where do you eat? What protects you from the elemets?" He had all these questions and was saddened knowing that she wouldn't understand his concern for her well being.

The ruins shield from weather. Eat what I catch or find sleep wherever I am tired.

He confused her though she was growing used to his need to touch someone so she did not recoil when his hand brushed hers.

Here.

Pointing to a blast furnace of sorts. We can cook here.

"Nadia what do you do for companionship? Don't you get lonely being all by yourself? Who takes care of you if you get sick?" Rex felt like all he could do was ask questions. In a way that's all he could do because what little he knew that was didn't matter now. They got to what appeared to be like an old blast furnace. "Nadia what type of fuel burns inside of this thing? and just how do you think we are going to cook our food with it?" As they stood there looking at this old structure Rex slipped his arm around hers and gently took her hand in his. She didn't pull back but he knew that she wasn't exactly comfortable with him touching her. "Nadia it is ok to touch. I will not harm you. I only want to be your friend. Do you understand friend?"

Nadia shrugged and slipped her hand from his and moving forward she popped open a door on a device beside the furnace and tossed the creature she had hunted in.

Jahee watches over me if I get sick... what is friend? Safer alone.

Nadia opened a door nest to the thing that looked like a blast furnace and threw the animal that she had caught inside. Rex wondered just what this was going to do. Back home they had always skinned and dressed the animals that they were to eat whether wild or barnyard stock. He had a lot to learn about where he was. It appeared that survival was going to one aspect of his life that was going to take center stage.

"Nadia, how can Jahee take care of you when you are sick it is nothing more than some form of machine. Maybe with that healing pad thing that you put on me to heal my wound you never have to worry about getting sick. A friend is someone you can talk to an play with. Someone that will watch out for you like you think Jahee does. Being alone isn't the best thing. Don't you ever long for another persons touch? Doesn't your body ever have urges?" Rex looked at her and just knew that she didn't have a clue as to what he was talking about. He found a rock to sit on and put his face down in his hands and began to cry.

Jahee monitors... talks to... teach game x o game. Alone safe. No one can trick or try to harm. Urges She tilted her head, Heat... it pass healing pad help make it pass. Heat causes trouble more weakened to be hurt or manip... manipulated.

She walked a few steps away and picked up a long heat proof glove and reached back into the door and pulled the animal out and began to break off the burnt fur and "armor" coverings and held out the remaining couple pounds of meat. Smell little bad to some but good.

“Nadia do you know the difference between a man and a woman? I believe this heat you talk about is part of the desire to be with another. Maybe you have been hurt so bad you are unable to recognize the feeling. Do you understand trust? You can trust me. I will never hurt you or trick you.” Rex watched as she put on a long glove and reached through the door and pulled out the animal that had been cooked fur and all. She pulled off the burnt fur and skin to expose the cooked meat. She held out the cooked meat for him to eat. Rex pulled off a large piece of meat and carefully took a bit of it. The taste wasn’t too bad but not like anything he had ever eaten before. He reached out the piece he had in his hand to her mouth encouraging her to take a bite. They sat there eating the meat in silence.

She quickly tore one of the legs off and began eating. After all Jahee had shown him about what she had gone through and exactly what they did the more wolven and feline mannerisms seemed to shine through. Looking to him brow raised...

Yes know difference... Heat makes weak and not safe. You are ancients... Ancients brought war... and the Order. Ancients that let the order do this to people.

She curled up eating watching him though.

“Nadia, I am from a time way before the Ancients that you talk of. I was fighting in a war against a regime that also did experimental and unspeakable things to other human beings. I would never have allowed what was done to you to have ever happened if I had been around and knew such things were being done. Tell me of the heat that you speak of. I am interested in knowing more about what it is. It appears that I am stuck here in your time alone save for you. I hope that you will come to realize that you can trust me and I would never do anything to hurt you. I do not want to be alone in your time. I wish you could understand what I mean.”

Jahee said that heat can lead to offspring. If dealt with by humans. Beyond that I do not know. Regime? What is Regime?

She held the meat out again to him to offer more as she ate.

What is your time like? she moved a little closer as she spoke.

"What do you mean if dealt with by humans? How does this heat make you feel? A regime is like a government. The Nazi's are or I guess I should say were a very bad people. They did terrible things to people and killed millions." She offered him more meat and he pulled off another piece. "My time well it was a very long time ago. I don't know how to tell you about it because I don't know how to compare it to your time since I know so little about now. I can tell you that we didn't have any healing pads. Did you see my airplane come out of the sky and land out there? That is one mode of transportation. Then we have cars that run on the ground. I have gone to school or college for most of my life then the war broke out. I joined up and became a pilot of the airplane out there. Now I am here. I have never even had a girlfriend."

She listened... car... cage with wheels? She ate more. What is girlfriend? Regime then like Order sounds like Order.

Feel strange... not like it feel not right... mind fuzzy bad.

She didn't like the feeling and talking about it did not really help. She always suspected that it was a part of what the scientists did to her.
