Is Corona racist?

Which races are the "minorities"?

I think it is due to pre-existing conditions like diabetes, which seems to occur more in minorities.

Which races are the "minorities"? Asian? Are "people of color" a minority on this planet?

"Mexican food" here is cooked mostly out of packets, by people who have never tasted actual Mexican food.

Call me shallow, but i love diversity for what it does for my taste buds.

Oh, right, yeah, that's called "tongue in cheek". Because half the threads on the gb these days are claiming someone is racist. Being English, my amusement at my own joke wasn't dependent on other people getting it, though I'm sure several did.

Because racist jokes are just, that, funny. :)

In China, it fell hardest on the Chinese.
They say that in the US if falls hardest
on the African-American community.

It is easy to surmise that the reason
is not entirely medical, but we still
don't know what we don't know...

Yeah, i haven't said anything racist. But you have fun with that

Although you may well be joking there are race grifter MP’s and “journalists” in this country (as well as the US) who are pushing this very narrative; the likes of Afua Hirsch, Zarah Sultana, Naz Shah et al.

As ever, they’re misusing statistics and conducting a uni-varied analysis to a multi-varied issue to score race based political points.

For example, viruses, obviously, spread quicker, more easily and are more prevalent in densely populated communities. And yet they’re comparing the whole of the UK, even though there are nearly no cases in less densely populated northern Scotland, Wales, NI and SW & East England where BAME choose not to live.

If you run the analysis by city the disparity diminishes considerably and is easily explainable by lifestyle choices, cultural differences and genetics.

This is not an indication of racism, which is the narrative they’re desperate to push.

Woof!

I think the way the narrative runs is that people of color and their communities are being neglected or outright being denied care.

It is instead though, as you point out. They are more densely sited and more susceptible for all of the reasons mortality tables for other diseases indicate.

Bingo.

I just remembered that China created the first genetically enhanced pair of humans in 2018. (resistant to HIV, and with enhanced memory and cognitive abilities).

If they did that, imagine what they might be capable of doing 10 years from now,
when China becomes overpopulated and scrambling for resources...
They already started emmigrating to Africa.

Major factor is decision related

It is not a poverty link it is a diet and lifestyle link. There is a genetic component as well. Just because you're genome dictates that you are more susceptible to, gir example, diabetes and high blood pressure does not alleviate you of the responsibility to being extra careful about your diet and lifestyle. You can certainly choose to have a poor diet and enfage in poor lifestyle decisions but the associated health risks are the direct result of those decisions that individuals make.

A bag of potatoes with their skins is cheaper than french fries or potato chips. Water is cheaper than soda. Cigarettes and alcohol are not cheap. They're is barely a link between poverty and pour eating habits other than the fact that people with poor eating habits tend to exacerbate their money issues by their poor and expensive lifestyle and diet choices. People with four eating habits have poor health they have more time off of work and have as a result more spotting employment records. All of these things are related but poverty which isn't an actual thing is not the route cause. Nobody is forced into poverty. You might be born into it, but getting out of it is a simple as spending less than you make.

Poverty itself is a lifestyle choice. Impoverished areas lay more in "sin" taxes and buy more lottery tickets. Casino revenue isn't coming from the wealthy.

I wish everybody understood the principles outlined in this excellent post. The major factor is decision related. We all go through life making decisions that effect our future. We can make one poor decision after another and sabotage our own life and then make another bad decision by blaming our problems on others. There are exceptions but the major factors involved with health and wealth and happiness are founded on decisions.

Didn't that turn put to be another fraud, like their cloned sheep?

I heard that the twins turned out to have other health issues?

But the main thing is that they had no ethical qualms about doing it.
And now that Genetics are advancing so fast, and with the ancestryDNA database and the GWAS catalog so easily available, the world will soon be at the fingertips of any mad scientist.

China has been a go to country for insane/ obsessed scientists for a few years now. Kinda fucked up that science and technology is moving so quickly gov'ts and ethics committee can't keep up with corporate/military use of said technology.

The honest truth is that there is racism in everything and everywhere you look. Trees are racist. Bacteria. Insects and especially the current viral pandemic.

The entire universe is racist. People are all racist. It is all they can think about.

All the problems come from racial injustice. Dogs and Cats are raciest. Everywhere I look and every thing I see is racist. People that love people of all races are racist.

Quicksand is racist too. Please help stamp out quicksand and all other forms of racism.
Yes. Sherwood Forest is full of oaks wearing white pointy hoods. And I'm often telling Pip off for scampering around the lawn with a burning cross.

2 possible factors -

a life style thing in so far as some groups live in extended family units under the same roof - in a way a bit like norther italy and spain - so no doubt leicester will have a high rate - as will no doubt other areas of similar population make up, often employed (if lucky enough to have a job) in a low paid work. some of the older group in that section will alos no doubt have lung conditions due to working in textile mills.

Religion plays a part possibly - i have just bought , for work, a quantity of alcohol hand sanitiser - from a re purposed gin distilery - i was advised to warn certain religions not to use it due to it containing alcohol. if that is right information then religion is a contributing factor.

Nottingham is a weird place by the sound of it (to another poster)
