Yeah, that captures the spirit of it.
There needs to be an update though. The documentary was made a decade ago, so I assume this interview is old too. China is now to main investor in Africa and the USA and other western countries have scaled way back.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was theater, but my point is that we have proof the Chinese are messing around with organisms’ genetic material. So it’s not to far of a stretch to imagine them tinkering with viruses in their lvl4, high-security, bioengineering lab in Wuhan.

Ethnic minorities make up only 14% of the general population, here in the UK, but a third of critically ill patients.

Obviously there's going to be a poverty link, but looking at the medical staff who have died... At one point 6/6 dead doctors were Asian. Pakistani, Bangladeshi, etc. And you'd assume doctors aren't poverty stricken.

Perhaps the other population is taking better care during the Covid situation.

2 possible factors -

a life style thing in so far as some groups live in extended family units under the same roof - in a way a bit like norther italy and spain - so no doubt leicester will have a high rate - as will no doubt other areas of similar population make up, often employed (if lucky enough to have a job) in a low paid work. some of the older group in that section will alos no doubt have lung conditions due to working in textile mills.

Religion plays a part possibly - i have just bought , for work, a quantity of alcohol hand sanitiser - from a re purposed gin distilery - i was advised to warn certain religions not to use it due to it containing alcohol. if that is right information then religion is a contributing factor.

I was curious because some of the covid19 conspiracy theories claim that the virus precursor was either stolen, or bought by Chinese from Canada or US labs.

The "stolen/bought" parts are coo-coo, of course.

But the part about bio research labs (including defensive bioweapons research) existing in those countries sounded plausible to me.

I, too roll my eyes at how both political extremes politicised the issue (poverty versus bad habits).

But there IS a certain trend:
China, Italy, Spain and Black neighbourhoods in NY are among the hardest hit.

Is it also because those neighbourhoods /populations came in contact with a more virulent strain?

Yep, but underlying health conditions can often be the consequence of inadequate healthcare due to poverty.

The way they’re trying to spin this is that their misrepresentation of statistical data is evidence of racial economic inequality resulting in more BAME deaths.

The fact is the data we have is both inconclusive and not accurate enough to draw those kinds of conclusion. It’s also a fact that their methodology is fundamentally wrong.

This is even more stark in the UK where both basic healthcare and income benefits are exactly the same for everyone, regardless of race. And where “white” British numerically out number BAME at the bottom of the economic pile, another factor which they choose to ignore!

Does anyone remember the SARS outbreaks in China?

That was blamed on animal to human transmission too. It originated in the province south of Wuhan’s province, and also has a bio lab. There’s like half a dozen bio labs in China which were all founded by European scientists. The French setup the Wuhan lab. I imagine China doesn’t have strict regulations limiting what these scientists can tinker with.

China has had a few waves of SARS. We were told that it was reinfection.
