i see it like this: if you have permission, you obviously don't lie to your SO or keep something from them. if you do it behind your SO's back, however, no matter if RL or online, you are at least dishonesty. if you do it behind your SO's back knowing that they would not approve then, yes, that's cheating.

I feel its cheating even though my b/f doesn't. I have a conscience and a guilt problem. He tries to encourage me but I just don't feel it's a loyal thing to do. I value loyalty a LOT.

I love this topic, so have to chime in, even if the OP isn't around anymore.

I hear what you're saying about loyalty, and agree to a certain point. However, I believe that cybersex is really just masturbation with a friend. Be it via cam, voice, or text, it's not the same thing as heading to a hotel with a hottie in real life. It just isn't.

I agree it's dishonest if your SO doesn't know, and if he/she wouldn't be OK with it. But dishonesty isn't the same thing as cheating.

Now, if you start to develop feelings for someone you're chatting with here, then I think that's a whole different ball game. I think it's only natural to develop an attachment of sorts in a relationship of the online variety, especially if you talk often and enjoy each other. But, if those feelings start to get too strong, or go in a direction they shouldn't for a married person, then maybe its time to pull back and reassess. Otherwise, you might find yourself in a bad spot.

I will say one thing though. I don't care if my husband cybers with another person, I really don't. But, I do get jealous at the thought of someone I have a relationship with here cybering with another Litster. How silly and fucked up is that? Didn't say I was perfect. Ha.

If you're definition of cheating encompasses any and everything your partner does that does NOT include you then you probably have an issue that has nothing at all to do with your partner.
