Is Homburg Actually Chuck Norris?

Chuck Norris is just inherently ridiculous. Like the Snuggie.

Except to the GOP, who hold him up as their one dependable celebrity, now that Charlton Heston has gone to the big NRA rally in the sky.

Did someone at least get that fucking rifle out of his cold dead fingers first?

Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape.

Ooo, don't talk about Planet of the Apes! I had a bad flu when I was young(er), so ill I couldn't get off the couch to change the TV channel, (yes, I am that old), and a Planet of the Apes marathon was playing so I got stuck watching that all day. Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowell and apes always make me feel sick to my stomach now.

Burp.

If a meme can overshadow someones stupid politics, and make that person seem ridiculous, silly, and absolutely hard to take seriously - then it can't be all bad.

Lighten up. Not everything is such serious business.

Chuck Norris is a pussy anyway. The one true memetic badass is Vinwood "Vin" Diesel, appropriately aided by Bear Grylls where requested, and since Homburg is neither black nor English, there answers the question

Your life must really be devoid of entertainment. It's sad.

Oh that would be great entertainment. Say I put up 10,000 dollars if you can last three minutes in the cage with a 70 year old pussy? Are you up for it, stud? :)

That is the question, right there. Does the meme make the person seem ridiculous, or does the meme grant widespread recognition and an aura of lighthearted badassery to the persona of the actual guy?

Depends whom you ask, obviously.

I do consider homophobia to be "serious business," yes. This type of thing isn't funny.

And while I understand that some people giggling at the meme don't endorse the actual guy's views, I personally find it difficult to separate the two - particularly when I suspect that the meme enhances the person's audience, many of whom give credence to what the guy actually says.

An internet meme is anything but serious. Nobody who subscribes to the meme cares to listen to the real guy, or what he has to say, because, srsly, its Chuck Norris.

I think you underestimate the power of satire and humor to attack hatred and stupidity.

There's power in humor, but it is a mistake to assume that all humans react to it in the same way.

That was a real ad, paid for and aired during the '08 primary season.

WORD.

Wow, everytime I check on this thread my WTF-o-meter goes up another notch.

I heard Chuck Norris is so afraid of being gay he closes his eyes whenever he looks at himself in a mirror, just to be sure.

He once said he loved Jesus, and immediately published a retraction clarifying that he and Jesus were 'just good friends.'

Just to clarify, I still enjoy Ben-Hur even though I am aware of and disagree with the late Charlton Heston's politics.

Oh, and also ditto with The Searchers and John Wayne.

Fair enough.

Personally I put bigotry in a different category than just alternate "politics." But everyone has his/her tolerance point regarding celebrities, and no law says they have to overlap.

One thing I'll say about Chuck Norris: he doesn't come to my house every day and piss in my Rice Krispies.

Well, unless I ask him nicely. He's a Christian, after all.

I heard he once had an inappropriate thought about Vin Diesel and spent the next three weeks trying to roundhouse kick himself in the face.
