Is it Safe to be Attractive in America?

Elliot Rodgers killed more men than women because he had more access to men than women at the time. Period. He was a racist, privileged, sociopathic shitstain who couldn't deal with his internal crap and, as all stains like him, he took the bitch way out.

That doesn't mitigate his misogyny. Or the point here, ironically served through the shitty OP's glaring raison d'être: Women get hurt and can lose their lives because men can't deal.

You have lots of anger around being "unable to deal".

What's the deal?

Elliot Rogers was fucking insane. Holding him up as a poster boy for either side makes no sense whatsoever. In fact, it is downright stupid. (I have no idea who injected him into the conversation, but come on.)

Right, i get it. Everything has a hook in it; that explains it.

Poor you. No wonder.

The only thing you have control of is how you react to the unwanted attention. I've seen a creepy guy or 2 walking behind a woman trying to pick her( them) up all the while she is telling him go away or she will shout for help.
Sometimes I will follow along out of curiosity to see if the woman would speak out , sometimes they didn't which is why Id walk up and say "Honey they didn't have....who the fuck are you? Which usually causes el creepo to beat feet. Other times I will draw attention to the creep by yelling leave her alone you fucking pervert, which always draws attention ending it. Women should never feel embarrassed or hesitate in public to speak up if being harassed or followed.

Except the guy semi-stalked instead of saying, "Hi, hold up. Any interest in catching a quick drink?"

ETA: Another reminder to self to read the thread before responding. And I was referring to the OP.

I agree, but we have a male perspective... Lots of women wont do what you have suggested

Well, even young, black women (attractive or not) face the same harassment, perhaps more so than their peers. So I'm not sure why you singled out only white women. Black women suffer from sexual violence at a high rate, especially if they are poor. A missing white women makes the news faster than a missing black woman. Attractive depends on one's point of view. One man may think I am attractive, another may think I am an ugly beast.

When pursuing a victim, some don't necessarily look at 'attractiveness', but rather 'vulnerability'. But alas, I don't think that is a fair comparison. Also, male victims of sexual violence are not widely discussed, it as if it is a hush hush topic.

I didn't single out white women, just pretty women, using Laurel and her example as the OP.

Also, the question is open-ended....using the word "safe" as a subjective term.

Laurel didn't feel safe in broad daylight, so she ducked into a store.

That made me feel sad....she should be able to pull on a pair of cut-offs and little t-shirt and walk to her Brazilian appointment without fear for her personal safety.
