If it's being *done for discipline, like brat taming for example, then it's D/s, Domination and Submission.

There's no magic threshold for BDSM. If someone enjoys *spanking but is vanilla in every other way, they're still kinky. So they're in the club.

People like to be all doctrinaire and parse the categories, but BDSM is very broad.

I like to give spankings in a ritualized way, and there is definitely D/s energy involved. You could say it has a humiliation element for the woman to being bent over a table or sofa, or over my knees... all vulnerable and exposed, and held in place. It is a form of impact play. There is the pain part, a calibrated sting. I like to use my bare hand so I feel and know the sting she's feeling. I put some power into it to maximize the vibration and to make her aware of my strength. I also administer aftercare, but sometimes mix the soothing touches between a series of blows. Women are invariably quite wet even before the first spank, but more so as the ritual proceeds.
