Is this too big for anal?

Hi,

I've recently bought a "natural sized" dildo. The natural size for it is 15 cm (5.9") long and 4 cm (1.57") in diameter, which to me, seems as a lot (at least the diameter, as I hear that there are men with "normal" size of 20cm in lenght.

The dildo was marketed for both vaginal and anal use. I have tried anal, but it just seems way to big.

Has anyone tried this size? Comments? I naturally use a lot of lube, but still hurts to just get the head in...

its a little girthy, but not by much. considering people use 2" diameter dildos anally, 1.5" is kind of the middle ground diameter. I personally like 1.25" diameter when I'm taking it up the bum.

also, some people anally fist...that's a LOT bigger than 2"...but not a beginner thing either.

try starting with a vibe to stretch out, and i bet 1.5" goes in easier than you think.

If you're nervous, think it's going to hurt, or anything less than completely relaxed and positive about it, it WILL be painful.

Check out the Anal section of The Blank Manual sticky for great suggestions on relaxing and working your way up. My experience has been that anal requires a lot of time, patience, and confidence building in addition to tons of quality lube.

Also, if your dildo isn't Pyrex or Silicone (capable of being completely sterilized), make sure you're using a condom with it during anal play.

On a related topic, I've read stories about "anal stretching", and that using too large objects would lead to inner sphincter control loss. Is there truth in these stories? How often do people have anal sex without feeling an effect?

I think with the 1.5" you are pretty close to the "average guy" at least that is about the same size as me and when shopping for dildos for my wife I got a 2" first and then the 1.5" because it is more my size but she prefers the 2" because it's softer.
If you are warming up for anal sex I would say that the 1.5" is a pretty good size but I also agree with the other poster to try a butt plug first. Start with small and move upto medium, large is just way too big for most in my opinion.

I'd agree that 1.5" diameter is pretty reasonable. I have a couple of plugs, both 1.6" (although they're different shapes so feel different). I've compared (by eye) both plugs to myself and they're the same (except I don't taper at the end ).

4" diameter sounds quite scary - I like the slight stretch I get from my plugs and would probably like to try a slightly bigger one, but looking at the 4" ones I think I'll leave them to the pros.

As for concerns about "overusing" your anus, from what I've read that's not particularly likely. Most problems seem to be brought about by insufficient preparation, lube and care, and in "normal" use (ignoring arguments that putting things up there isn't "normal", because people who say that are missing out) you shouldn't get any problems at all.

A lot of lube is one of the most important things in my opinion. And: enough time! Do not start with your natural sized dildo - start with your fingers. Get your bumhole prepared to the bigger "things", means: let the muscles relax. Start with one finger and if you feel, that your bumhole getting used to it, use another one and so on until you feel yourself ready for the dildo. Give your bum enough time - do not hurry or it will hurt for sure. If your bumhole is relaxed enough, start SLOWLY with your natural sized dildo. Take enough lube also on the dildo.

They make vibrating, rotating, pulsing, and thrusting type plugs to accomodate that.
