I did read somewhere that the Hajj was added (retconned) as a pillar of Islam after a deal was struck with the merchants who controlled the old pagan pilgrimage site that is now Mecca. There are no Palestinian hostages in Israel. The Israelis are so desperate to free the innocent hostages taken on October 7th they have agreed to release some convicted criminals, but it's not an equivalent exchange.
