I have to disagree with that take. Trump's millionaire and billionaire DONORS (including corporations-- I mean people, according to the Supreme Court) want an ample and steady supply of cheap labor. But Trump and his worshipers just hate anyone who isn't male, white, straight, and Christian.

And can we not ignore Nixon here? I remember the sweet smell of tear gas at the White House protesting his ass. We went down on buses from NYC and the rest stop was over run with people so the girls just came in the men's room! I don't recall any using a urinal.

Hate to break it to you but GenX starts at 1965 and she was born in 1964. Technically she's a boomer.

FDR( b. 1882) was from the Missionary Generation (1860-1882) which played a similar role to the Boomers in the previous cycle. The Lost Generation (1883-1900) was the previous iteration of Gen-X, jaded and pragmatic--Truman and the top generals in WWII were Lost.

Most of the civil rights victories were won by the Silent Generation (1925-42): Martin Luther King and Malcom X, etc. Rosa Parks was a little older. She was a G.I. If she'd been a man, Parks would have fought in WWII

The Boomers benefitted from the environmental movement and the civil rights movement, but they weren't the foot soldiers fighting the battles. They were the "Me" decade in the 70's, selfish and hedonistic--Bill Clinton and Donald Trump are classic Boomers.

Thank you for the history lesson. Though Donald Trump belongs to the classic narcism group and not any of the other age categories. He is almost beyond any other classification except draft dodger.

So people can be “Generationally fluid” based on how they personally feel / identify.



That actually makes perfect sense and tracks perfectly with (reinforces) the concept of “Gender fluidity”.

There’s actually another form of “Generational fluidity” that involves what age group individuals personally identify with -child, young adult, mature adult, elderly adult.

A perfect example of that ^ was when Trump recently identified as being a young man.

That ^ may be the most extreme example of “fluidity” in history, but hey, Donald can be whatever he identifies as. No absolute judgment here.

I don’t evaluate candidates based on what generation they’re slotted in but do feel that the demands of the presidency require an individual with relevant experience coupled with the stamina to do the job.

It’s a fun conversation though and I’d be curious to see the proportional representation of Gen X in the House and Senate. I suspect they’re well represented.
