Jim Webb 2016!

I like Webb but his time has passed. He's a voice of populist reason in an age that calls for populist rage and Trump has stolen his thunder and then some.

You know I don't get to say this often. You and Colonel Hogan give me faith that being a Republican does not by definition make one evil, racist, or brain damaged. These are likely causes or symptoms but they are in fact separable.

It also gives me a little more room to talk shit about libertarians and to a less degree independents. Because I'm a stron believer that probably 80% of current libertarians are actually Republicans who just look at the crazy on the field for themselves and say "nope, I will not associate with evil, racist retards." and instead of cleaning up their house which is a find house with a great history they move to a dinky little shack down the street. Which wouldn't be nearly as bad if they'd vote libertarian consistently enough that the Party had to abandon the crazy to stand a chance but at the end of the day guys like Ron Paul know which team they are actually part of and it's not the libertarians. I'm also a strong believer that no such critter as an independent exists in real life. That's like those freaks who claim to be neither dog nor cat people and we all know that if you only had room in your boat for one of them which one is coming. You might feel bad about it later or even at the time but you made the decision years ago and you know it. No point in lying.

I was briefly a libertarian....then I went an-cap, and then I recovered my sanity. That being said, I voted for Bob Barr in 2008, because while I was crazy, I wasn't stupid....the idea of Palin in the White House....yikes.

Like I said, you give me faith in humanity and republicans. I however stand by my statement that most Libertarians are Republicans who share your opinion of Palin and her ilk and would really be better served cleaning their house not living in a shack.

Yeah, well, I should have seen through Bush, too, but in 2004, I was convinced that Kerry was a complete dove....big ass mistake....Kerry, whatever his faults, might have moved us back to some sanity. So, I have to live with that choice until my dying day. Same with 2000 and Bush vs. Gore...granted, I was still a bit far right myself back then.

severusmax reading your signature I'm going to say you're already a Democrat on paper. In reality there's more people now that do not identify with either party than ever. Part of that is simply to reduce the voting populous. The rest is the Tea Party and the pull they've had on nearly everyone to the right.

To be perfectly honest I don't think Bush was half as bad as people claim. Whether he would have been better than Gore hinges almost entirely on if you think Gore would have kept us out of Iraq and given current evidence I believe there is a strong chance he would have. But that's hindsight for ya and how you feel about green energy and if the government should invest (it should) or if it should wait for the market to deal with the situation. Other than that I don't think any of their major differences between the two men would have really effected much.

Kerry. . .I've never been able to get a read on that man. But remember, the American Dove went extinct around World War II. Now we're split between big hawks and little hawks, and by little hawks I really mean ever so slightly smaller than average hawks.
