And I do know you said you didn't mean it later on in that thread too. I'm not trying to rehash this.
Yeah, but still..it wasn't anything harsh, to get this sort of reatcion...and it makes me feel bad, you know? I was gonna ask what Glam thinks of the Judd Winick run on [/i]Green Lantern[/i], but now I don't think he is interested in sharing his views on it with me, because of the mistaken notion that I am some gay-basher.

If you don't like to be thought of as a gay basher, a good first step towards correcting that impression might be to quit telling gays how we ought to feel about things, and deriding us when we insist on having our own perspectives.

Is there only one 'queer' perspective? Is there no one who might agree with me? Did I actually say that gay people HAD to be a certain way, and more importantly, did I threaten any response if they weren't?

What I said would be the equivalent of saying 'Hey, I know you guys like football, not my thing, but cool if it turns you on...but can you put a shirt on those guys who show up at the games barechested, painted in the team colors?'. It isn't a bash, it is a statement of asthetic choice. I'm all for gay folk being treated just like anyone else, since you ARE just like everyone else.

Please note that I said "perspectives" not "perspective".

Johny what's the deal boy
Is your love for real boy
when the lights are low
You never hold me close Now I saw you today boy
Walking with them gay boys
Now you hurt me so, now I gotta know Johny are you queer?
'Cause when I see you dancing with your friends
I can't help wondering where I stand

I'm so afraid I'll lose you
If I can't seduce you
Is there something wrong?
Johny come on strong.

Why are you so weird, boy?
Johny are you queer boy?
When I make a play
You're pushing me away

'Cause when I see you dancing with your friends
I can't help wondering where I stand

Johny you've forsaken
A love you could be takin'
I want to give it to you,
But you never come through

Oh, why are you so weird, boy? Johny are you queer boy? When you asked for a date
I thought that you were straight.
But Johny are you queer?

Johny are you queer boy?
Johny are you queer boy?
Johny are you queer boy?

Hey Johny.. Johny are you.. you know...

That's just funny!!!

I'm closing this thread, and I'll tell you why.

When "GLBT Chatter" was first created, I was all set to rule with an iron fist. It became very quickly apparent that wasn't what the people wanted, so I've been keeping an eye on things and only moderating where absolutely necessary. I'm sure many of you agree I have a pretty light touch when it comes to moderating. Personal attacks, though, are not cool in my book.

Johnny Mayberry has opinions that are pretty controversial in this crowd, and he's ruffled more than a few feathers. Hell, even I've found myself miffed by some things he's said. But this board is emphatically not for queer people only, and he is entitled to express his opinion just as the rest of us are.

Obviously glamorilla is entitled to share his opinion too, so why am I closing this thread? Because as I said, this is not an appropriate space for public attacks on an individual. It's not that I think Johnny can't stand up for himself - we know he can! - it's that I'm not letting this go just because Johnny says he doesn't mind ("it is just online and stuff"). There will not be that kind of precedent around here.

By all means, continue posting and arguing with each other. But do not make personal attacks. Similar threads will also be closed.
