She has conferences 8-8 Monday then off for the week, I have Thursday off, working Friday, but semi by choice

Wow that is a long day especially with conferences. We have ours the first week of Dec. but we don't schedule them that late, I usually quit by five. We have a law in CA that says that employers have to give their employees time to attend school meetings (but the companies don't have to pay for that loss of time) but they can't deny or fire anyone for taking the time. I try to fit into a person's schedule but we teach until 1 and then do conferences after that. I think I like Sue's way better. Especially if the rest of the week is off. :)

Except in her school, most parents call and re-schedule the conference so they can take the whole week off with their kids and go out of town. The teahcers still pretty much stuck at school all day Monday, then rush between Thanksgiving and Christmas to re-schedule all the conferences
