Just to announce...

German eh? May I PM you with a question about a German name?
Certainly :)

Again, thanks so much everyone for the well-wishes. I still can't quite believe this is actually happening. It's such a weird feeling to go from dating to engaged to married so fast.

...that I'm going to get married at the end of the month.
S' mom is not happy (she's a fairly devout catholic). His dad is supportive though, which I am glad for. My parents both support the decision as well. S and I are both very happy about it, even though it was sudden - we've talked about it a lot in the past.

I just never thought I'd end up one of those people who get married right out of college.

Congrats - don't sweat his mom. (There is way too much I could say about that!!) Ultimately it is between you and S, so the two of you are all that matter.

Congrats, jen.

May you find every happiness together. :rose:

Congratulations Jen, from one engaged woman to another. Enjoy every minute of being engaged and looking forward to the wedding. Due to various reasons we have to keep moving ours back and back so I'm a teeny bit jealous you can go straight for it :)
Have a lovely lovely day - and post some photos!

Congrats, beautiful. He's is an amazingly lucky guy. Hopefully he doesn't mind sharing you because I love your pic thread (I know it's one of Kiten's favorites too). Good luck and big hugs. :rose:

When I got engaged, I wasn't nervous or scared. When I purchased expensive jewelery for her wedding day outfit, I was terrified. I knew my heart, but didn't know much about jewelery.

I know that the US Federal government has tons of info about naturalization. I'd Start Here.

Dating? It seemed like you and S have been in a serious committed relationship for a while now. You are both lucky to have found each other. *hugs*

Thanks :rose:

I'm quite glad that S doesn't let her influence his decision. The sad thing is, I'm usually not bad with guys' parents. I help with the household if I stay overnight, I'm educated enough for the more high-strung conversations, I'm not overbearing or too PDA... usually parents really like me. Naturally, the one that's going to be my mother-in-law invites S' ex for dinner when I'm over. Way to pick, me.

I'm not going to stop trying to win her over though. Maybe she'll calm down once the wedding's all done and she realizes she can't change things.

Congrats , hon. it must be great to have found that 'rest of my life' person.

And you're surprised you feel nervous?

All best wishes. :rose:

I'll try my best, and I'm planning on taking a few pictures. :) I don't post face pics on here, but I'll see if I can use something anyway.

I wish you the best of luck with getting your wedding date all finalized and figured out :rose:

I'm glad that the signing of the marriage license isn't going to be tough to plan. All we have left is deciding on a location. Originally we were just going to go to the courthouse and do it for free, but they only do that one day of the week, and it wasn't one that works for us (my parents wouldn't be able to be there). So we had to pay a justice of the peace, which means that we get to pick the day, time and location. We've considered a park, but if we do pick that I just hope it doesn't rain.

Thank you so much   No, he's never minded the pic threads. Hell, he took some of the pictures on them himself.

I know that site, but thank you  It's almost impossible to fill out these forms without an expert, or at least someone who's done it a few times before, because there is so much they expect me to know that I just don't.

I guess I might have used the wrong term there... probably cause I couldn't find a better one. Sorry :rose:

Once again, thanks very much to everyone.

I got my ring today. S always wanted to give me my ring properly, not just press it into my hand. We were participating in a picnic, a graduation event, actually, and S asked me once again if I wanted to marry him - in German this time :) When I said yes, he gave me the ring. It was weird, because we were having this really private romantic moment ihn the middle of so many people, and nobody noticed. Maybe it's strange to call that romantic, but I thought it really was.

Of course, minutes later I was bouncing around showing it (and S) off. I couldn't resist, I was so excited :cathappy:

That is a very very beautiful ring. I love marquise cut stones.
It feels really weird wearing a ring on that finger for the first coupla weeks, then it feels really weird when you don't :)
<hugs and kisses>
I'm all squishy and excited for you
