TQ.

yes adding the texture pulls her in closer. I will add another softground texture and then the last thing we will do is an aquatint.

...have to use each technique the teacher is showing us...so gotta work it into the idea I have in mind.

yes, that can be a drawback of a "school" setting... At time you might think "Hey! I don't wanna add another technique!"
But, looks like you are incorporating in a seamless way....as if it was all your plan all along!

It's also cool to see the linear sketchiness of the block print compared to the BOLD graphics of the proof.

thanks...yeah its good to be able to do/refresh on the techniques...if I had preplanned HOW i wanted to reach my goal it could be an annoyance. so far I have been able to get it to work the way I want.

interesting contrast between the sketch and the block print. i have to keep reminding myself as I cut, carve, gouge etc what the process yields ( how it differs from the other process - etching that we are doing concurrently)

yeah...I am sure all that will become 2nd nature as you do more and more!:D

Very cool kiki! I am familiar with block printing now, I/m curious about the final block... printing on textile or paper? hope to see the final outcome!

Hi Austin. Thanks. the proofs are on newsprint. the finals will be on good printing paper.

in the future I want to play with other printing surfaces and with Chine-Collé as someone sent me some lovely japanese paper

gonna make your own starch based paste? Awesome!
