Kinkikittyn's Illustrated Erotica

this is so neat to see the progression of your work! i love it kinki! thank you for sharing your talent. :rose:

oh, also I didnt wipe the aquatint plate enough so it IS a bit dark

and the proofs are just on newsprint.

I will be buying good paper soon - friday i'm going in to do work on my own...more scraping/burnishing and will proof on good paper.

and will start the next project too

Oh man I'm excited to see this! I was curious was the burnishing would accomplish, Damn what a difference! It's coming along great kiki! Very anxious to see the finished piece. Curious do you do the burnishing against the relief?

TQ Xssve! its a great class. I've missed printmaking.

Thanks Austin! I am burnishing and scraping over the aquatint. The figure has a few areas with no aquatint etch but most of it has 1 or 2 levels of etch. I am using scraping and burnishing to intensify the highlight areas and create modeling for the figure.

Becoming quite 3 dimensional...

I had class again today. tons of fun.
finished up with the aquatint etch. pulled a proof

then started scraping and burnishing to create highlights and modeling.

good thing I took another proof, now I can scrape and burnish with more authority ...was too tentative before.

REALLY cool! Are you sure you haven't etched before?
I love seeing the process...as well as the imagery that YOU create, which of course is uniquely YOU(rs). I actually LIKE the dark of the "mis-wiped" proof!
Also enjoy how you are scraping/burnishing to extend the value range..."modeling" as you mentioned.... really is helping. (aquatint can be very "flat")

The "human" figure with the feathers works very well as your "Attraction/repulsion theme... I think of Harpies and angels... the figure is coiled in.... dispair, perhaps... the long toes...birdlike....talons...claws....add to the repulsion.
is the figure feeling self-repulsion?

I like that there is some ambiguity...a story there to try and discern! That is really cool as it engages the viewer and draws them in.

I am looking forward to any future states and seeing it printed on good quality paper!:rose:

Thank you:heart: I took printmaking at the Uni many years ago for about 2 semesters and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately this is the first time I've gotten a chance to do it again aside from a short stint with silkscreen right after graduation.

What I feel is the "potentiality." curled inward, tension and yet langor, contained as though in an egg and imminent "hatching" into movement.

I see the attraction and repulsion of the figure itself (its nature being beautiful and beastial) and in the responses of the viewer.

And mostly, heck, cause I enjoyed the form and shape, textures and shadows. ;)

all good reasons!
AH..yes.. I noted the "potential" before! (fergot to write it!..really! :D ) a coiling like a spring...and the bird/egg metaphor is extended further with that....

I know with my own work (the more serious stuff) I typically develop the concept as I go... not always fuly thought out in advance. Mostly intuitively constructed. Futrue works then might expand on the same themes as I am able to discern them.

How about you? I know you are a planner...at least to some degree.

here is a digital sketch for my "steampunk raven" or cyberpunk or biomech ;)

not done with the "construction" yet and then will be working on a final.

SWEET! I love it..whatever you call it.
def has Victorian elements to it!... even in that there was a great deal of biological exploration in that era and of course the gears. and the watch parts def look turn of LAST century!

I suppose there are "pure-ists" who have certain parameters for each.

Did more burnishing on "attractionrepulsion" today

It was nice to go in on a non-class day, there was one other student and the Aide.

I did 2 proofs today. Both were done on "better" paper tho not "great" paper.

The version 2 was done with more ink on the plate. I prefer the darker version soooo I THINK i will go back and do another aquatint etch on the background. Will probably mess around a bit the the foreground texture at the same time.

yummy!
I agree with your thoughts! keeps getting richer!

TQ! darker adds to the atmosphere.

not sure WHEN I can get back in to do it though...gone most of next week for Thanksgiving.

yes! and a more fullsome range of values!

Luckily, you can always pull an edition and work further later.
