Ladies, welcome your new status as brood mares

Mind if I ask why you resent the brood mare comment? (Not directed at you individually anyway.)

Because it seemed to indicate that having children is some awful thing that men have forced onto us- and that somehow by having children (esp. a lot of them) that women somehow become nothing but breeding animals. I guess it wasnt' meant that way, but it felt to me like a disparagement of women who have several children.

edited to add: I did not mean to dig this thread up, I just thought I should post a reply. I'm sorry, I probably should have PM'd it, but I didnt' think of it till it was too late.

I don't find it wrong if a woman has a lot of kids, nor if she likes having all those kids.

What I'm against is the idea that anyone would try to tell me that I should have this or that many kids, or that I should have them now or then.

It's MY body, so I decide what it does! I want to have kids one day, but not today. And just as I have no business telling a mother-of-five that she shouldn't have so many kids, or a pregnant woman that she shouldn't have her baby, neither does anyone have the right to tell me when to have a certain amount of kids!

The term "brooding mare" doesn't imply that it's wrong to have kids, but that it's wrong to FORCE women to be nothing but mothers IF THAT'S NOT WHAT THEY WANT.

There. All PC, and I still got my point through.;)
