Steven watched the doorway, intent on settling his nerves. It had been almost 7 weeks that he had been chatting with his date this evening - they had spoken over the phone, traded photos and fooled around vitually. Now he would meet her face to face, if she really intended to keep their date.
Steven had just turned 50, and his companion for the evening was almost 20 years younger. He had worried from the beginning that she might turn and run when it came to meeting one on one. Instead, she had suggested the meeting, calming the nerves somewhat for him.
He sipped his single malt and looked at his phone, scanning the time and any potential missed messages. He would be patient, nursing his scotch as the minutes ticked by...
The bar was quiet, few others around. He kept his eyes from scanning the bar familiars, they had an eye on him from the moment he entered. If this had been the Cheers bar, it might have been renamed Jeers.
