LDoK: World's Finest (OOC)

Just an FYI, but I'll be gone from today through till Monday night. I'll let everyone know when I get back:).

Hurry back, Wyld, and safe journeys!

(Best AV ever, by the way. And with you, that's saying something.)

GCPD Commissioner James Gordon

While Bruce Wayne develops his Batman identity, Gordon is the first person in law enforcement that he contacts.

While not entirely approving of the Batman's methods, Gordon has come to realize that the Batman is the perfect weapon in the war on crime. He also is beginning to understand that Batman's commitment to the city and his mission is with the highest integrity and morality. It is because of this that Jim Gordon chooses to ally himself with the Dark Knight, much to the chagrin of most of his subordinates.

Gordon has begun to trust the Batman with information regarding criminal activity, some of which Gordon has discovered within his own department.

In the end, this alliance will prove to be an inalienable foundation for a friendship that is legendary.

Negative, Ghostrider.

He only knows about Batman right now.

Yeah.

While pre-Bats Bruce was active four years ago in Gotham just long enough to stop Ducard from taking Gotham down, and while Wraith and The Black Hood were both involved in that, I doubt they ever crossed paths with Gordon. They were in different parts of the city.

Maybe Gordon heard about them later, vague stories of other shadows fighting in that night, and was like, "friends of yours?"

And Batman was like: "For lack of a better term."

...maybe.

Or maybe Gordon has implemented a "Don't ask, don't tell" policy.

He's pretty smart, you know.

For a human.

And his post is up.

If it's not what you had in mind, Chas, do tell.

I'd say you were pretty smart for a human.

But I'm still pretty sure you're Kryptonian. XD

...that was perfect.

That was Jim Gordon. I'm grinning like an idiot.

...that was perfect.

somehow, I am gonna work "cheerleader with a cape" in my next post

just watch me!!

Chloe's working on three articles at once. At least one of those articles is on the costume.

:: chuckles softly ::

I used to hate that costume. But that was before I fell in love with Kim's Kara.

Kim's Kara can wear whatever she damn well wants, and I've got a girl who'll frostbite anyone what says otherwise.

I wonder if Chloe can squeeze an article about the Martian Manhunter in there somewhere.

I'm sure he'd give an exclusive....

Remember that Chloe and Merick are still on the first day.

Kara's still breaking news at their point.

:: grins :: But once we timeskip ahead, an audience between J'onn and Chloe can very easily be arranged.

:: winks :: Chloe's a very busy woman, but she always has time for Amen.

Any one know on average how soon it is after arrest in the UK that one would be dragged before a court? Trying to figure out some timing for Sammy's trial and such. Seems that my google-fu is weak at the moment. I mean, I would assume that bail and such before the judge would be pretty soon. Within a couple days at most. And criminal cases I know would take while before actually starting... but yeah.. arraignment should be quick right.

i know in the US you have I think 48 hours. Probably similar in the UK

usually within 24 hours is teh norm

again thats just guessing

but we are writing in a comic book. tweak it to your hearts content!!!!

Abraxas was pretty much on the money. In the US judicial system, an arrested person must be brought before a judicial officer (judge) for a formal accusation/bond hearing within 48 hrs. if arrested without a warrant, and within 72 hrs. if arrested with. (The warrant itself is a formal writ of accusation).

As far as how long it takes to go to trial depends on the current court case load, whether their committed crime is a misdemeanor or felony, whether or not they wish a trial by jury or a presiding judge hearing (bench trial), the ability to retain council or use a public defender (this can further lengthen the wait time because of the public defender's case load).

The arraignment trial can take as little as a day or as long as a few months, depending on several factors, one of which is whether or not the case is currently open in investigation by law enforcement. The arraignment is not the same thing as the bond hearing, although they are often heard within the same appearance. It is also not uncommon to combine these two hearings with a first appearance hearing, wherein the facts of the case are heard to determine if there is indeed probable cause to substantiate the charges and bind the accused over to a trial judge.

This is probably more info than you even wanted to know, but this is my area of specialization, my occupation, and I tend to enjoy talking about it.
