(OOC -- This is a flash back thread that is part of the larger role play in the ORP forum called "Coming Home".)
8 January 2288
Lee had started his morning with a smile, looking through a tall stack of art work presented to him by his Care Mother. She had always doted on the rambunctious boy she'd raised to become what she called a fine man. And she bragged about him to her students endlessly. In response, they'd each sat down with pens and paints and markers and created their own Time Jump Platform, including one that featured a smiley face and the caption, Earth should be a happy place. Good luck!!!
"Mission Commander Lee...?"
Lee set the picture down and studied the woman standing in the open door of personal quarters. She was stunning: flawless face, long jet-black hair, and slim, fit body that were all blessed upon her via her Chinese heritage. And then, set in that classic oriental face were pale blue eyes that Lee knew she'd gotten from her father's line ... European...? he tried to recall ... German, specifically...?
He knew more about her professional than her genetic background ... and yet, he didn't know it all. She'd peaked Lee's interest long before he'd ever laid eyes upon her, when his Executive Officer -- who was in charge of the majority of Personnel Matters -- had shown the woman's file to him. Lee had become quickly impressed with the reading ... and then he reached the section about her training at the International Security Institute -- the real, scary spooks of the Intelligence Branch -- and found most of the details redacted, so much so that some pages were far more black than white.
Lee knew he had to have this kind of person close to him, if not to utilize her skills for his purposes then to at least have her near so he could keep an eye on her. This was not a person someone like Lee wanted out there, unsupervised, doing what ever she damn well pleased to do.
Lee knew his history, and history told again and again that if the people at the top -- in this case, him -- didn't keep the best and the brightest -- her -- very near to them, then the best and brightest had a way of soon becoming the people at the top.
He gestured her inside, asking, "Close the door behind you, so we can talk."
As she turned and slid the door shut, Lee examined her back side as well. Stunning ... absolutely stunning. He wished that this erotic creature had come to his quarters with an invitation for more personal interactions -- just six meters away, through an open door, his neatly made bed awaiting to be mussed by activity -- but she was here at his orders to discuss an opportunity that even she had probably never imagined would be offered to her.
He gestured her to the chair opposite his desk from him and said bluntly, "I want you to join my Senior Staff, Ryogen. Or ... do I call you Alise...?"
