Let's Talk Lit Crushes

How do you get them? Do you go looking, or wait for them to come to you?

I never look for crushes, I don’t even think about them, honestly. I just get a sudden “oh shit!” moment when it dawns on me that I have one.

How long do they usually last? Do you give them a time limit and then give them the boot? Or let them hang around indefinitely?

I’m not sure how long they would last, really. If I’m crushing on someone I’ll want to get to know them, and if I’m still into them after that, it’s pretty much here to stay, I guess!

Do you have a standard for who you crush on, or is anyone fair game?

As I don’t look for crushes, I guess anyone is fair game. I haven’t really noticed a pattern in my crushes!

What do you look for in a crush? What turns you off?

I don’t look for crushes, but intelligence and empathy are important. Nothing feels more lonely than trying to talk through a decision and wanting to weigh up the pros and cons and getting a “well don’t do it/just do it and move on” response. Abusive behaviours turn me off, and not being able to have a conversation with someone. Honesty is important too, as dishonesty is something that drives me away quickly.

Do you crush one at a time, or are you more likely to multi-task?

Well, as was already said, if it’s the beginnings of a crush - a general ‘ooh I like spending time with this person in a platonic way!’ I can multitask. But when I catch actual feelings, my attention won’t go elsewhere.

Are you open about who you've crushed on, or do you keep it to yourself?

Well my current (more than) crush knows it, and hears it pretty much on a daily basis. I tend to keep people at arm’s length, so when I feel a connection with someone I can get pretty vocal about it!

And lastly, do you currently have a crush, and what is their name? :D (kidding.)

He knows who he is :D

I'm going to repeat this comment. I didn't realize y'all were no longer together but happy you have moved on and congrats on the upcoming marriage. Also great that y'all are still friends after the breakup.

I’ll forever be grateful for the almost two years we shared, he really was a god send for me and cane into my life at exactly the right time. I have many fond, cherished, and naughty memories. Lol I did more living in that time than I ever had before. He’s a very special soul and I was lucky to get to become a part of his life. I won’t say he was perfect and didn’t hurt me because that’d be a lie. But he’ll forever hold a special piece of my heart and a giant chunk of my soul. ❤️

My crushes happen organically. I’ve never looked for someone to crush on, and quite often they aren’t interactive, and that’s just fine. I often crush from afar. My little secret.

That’s all over the map. They’ve lasted one day to several years.

Intelligence, wit, and charm are qualities that my crushes have all possessed. Some have seemed a bit mysterious, and that intrigued me. Others open and friendly, and that delighted me. Having a way with words is pretty important on a message board, so there’s that. For me, the intangibles are a biggie. Something about them that I can’t quite put my finger on.

What do you look for in a crush? What turns you off?

I don’t look for crushes, but arrogance, bullies, and being disrespectful are definitely turn offs.

Do you crush one at a time, or are you more likely to multi-task?

I can crush on more than one person at a time, for sure. For me, having a crush on someone is a pretty casual thing. And like I said before, not always interactive. If it becomes interactive, reciprocated, and develops beyond crush-level intensity, that’s a different story.

I typically don’t look for anything on here. I’m oblivious to crushes. Both giving and receiving.

How long do they usually last? Do you give them a time limit and then give them the boot? Or let them hang around indefinitely?

The crushes I have are more out of admiration than anything. I’ve crushes on Janeyl, and WINGS for a decade or more. The stronger ones can last a lifetime while others are fleeting.

Do you have a standard for who you crush on, or is anyone fair game?

I like respectful women. I like women who are on here that don’t scream “ LOOK AT ME”. Women who stand their ground and don’t take shit from anyone. Rainshine, Corbal and RA are examples for instance.

What do you look for in a crush? What turns you off?

I don’t look for anything really. If it happens it happens. I don’t like any posters who enjoy spreading negativity or drama.

Do you crush one at a time, or are you more likely to multi-task? I crush on many for many different reasons.
