My Last story didn't get approved till after the deadline oh well 17 is still a decent score from a nonwriter

No worries, Todd. The deadline is for submission, not posting, so anything submitted before the end of the year counts toward the contest.

I still have a couple of contest entries to post - notably, CRaZy's audio poems, which I need to get off my butt and reformat & upload. The contest winners will be announced of January 16, 2001 at the same time we announce the December Monthly Contest winners.

All involved in the contest will get a goodie. The top 5 folks will get bigger goodies. Top winner gets cash.

Details will be forthcoming.

Seriously, can we go again for this year? I love having some kind of incentive, even though I punked out at the end.

And is there any chance we can get the hell away from the TV show "Survivor?" Pretty please, with guacamole on top?

KillerMuffin--did you actually finish all the categories, at least once immunities are included? Holy refried toast, Batman! Impressive as hell. And CrAZy gave it a solid run, too. JRob & Hecate got sneaky-smart right at the end, posting late and working the immunities. Well played, everyone! I'm feeling more than a little outclassed here, but it's all good. I had a great time.

YEAH, I'm in. I'd prepare alternate rules, and about something other than survivor. Here's what I'd like to see:

First, everything you submit in the timeframe gets some kind of credit. Nothing should be disqualified as a "repeat" posting.

Second, it should encourage people to branch out. Say, postings in categories where you have nothing is double points, or something like that. Oh, and keep the idea of "bonuses" for multiple category postings, too!

Third, there should be some extra-literotical gizmo device that gets you some number of points, but not as many as you get for posting. This thing, taking the place of the Survivor show, would be some random game we can all play together. I'm a sucker for trivia or puzzles.

I'm thinking of something along the lines of the puzzler on "car talk" on NPR: We'd submit quiz-show or mensa-challenge questions to a moderator- the one who gets a question chosen gets beaucoup points (to encourage us to submit such things), and everyone who gets it right gets a small point bonus.

Sure. Whatever you all want to base it on works for me. Sports, soap operas, jelly bean counting, the NASDAQ...

I will make one request: I'd rather not have the E's count for so much. Or at least make other letters like H's count as well. Or something that puts less pressure on myself...lol

Again??? We're doing it again? You mean I still have to deal with the Mind Control category?? Ahhhh....on the subject of E points, maybe there could be bonus points for obtaining more than 5 Es. That way Laurel, as long as you don't count them up in your head, there might not be so much pressure. Just a thought. Are we going to add new categories like Illustrated Stories just to make it more interesting?

A few more thoughts so that those who don't get Es aren't so heavily penalised:

- bonus points for entering the special contests like Halloween and Holidays.

- bonus points for submitting more than 5 categories in a month

- bonus points if a story has more than 10 000 reads

Just a few random thoughts. Don't panic!!! Have fun with the 2002 contest everyone.

Getting the ball rolling

Okay, I'll get the ball rolling.

I'm writing up a draft of a new set of rules for the next (non-) Survivor challenge, which I will offer up to the group by the end of the week. If anybody has any ideas, desires, fantasies, inside information, or phobias, post them here and/or let me know...
