When I first get here, the PM notification pops up first, so that's what I start with on my visist. I return any messages, and then go to my favorite threads. I have to look at the funny pics and other humorous threads because I'm here to waste some time and have fun.

So what say you, what's the first thing you do when you come into Lit and why?

First thing in the morning, I check the myriad of PMs from the Lit Ladies requesting that I have sex with them and asking me for pictures of my naughty bits. Then I answer them, and delete as I go because my mail box is always full.

Then I check my favorite threads and drop in on a few of the threads that I am subscribed to....last I checked it was about 977.

By the time I'm finished it's time for bed. Last time I took a shower was for Christmas....in 2007...right after I joined Lit.

It's always a pleasant surprise for me when the PM notification pops up after I log in. It doesn't happen very often, so I tend to give that my immediate attention and put together a reply if appropriate.

Otherwise, I look first for updates to my subscribed threads (like this one) and see if I want to make further postings in those. If I have any spare time after that, then I'll browse for other threads of interest, and perhaps consider initiating a new thread on something that I haven't found covered elsewhere.

At the bottom of the page you should have a box where you can jump to different parts of Lit, Sticky.

And Happy Sunday, everyone! No church for me today, ChainedUp, but I am thanking the powers that be that I'm not hungover, because by all rights I should be....

I usually check PMs and then my subscribed threads. Then I check out the 'new posts', say hi to some friends, see what kind of trouble I can get into...and then forget to click on something and Lit logs me out. I'm pretty consistent with that....

That pop-up thingy makes me read any PMs I have received first because it's kinda "in your face".

So I do read those first when I have them.

If I have something to say it usually goes in the thread, though. If I think something is wrong with a friend? Maybe I see one of their public posts and they seem upset? I will send them a message asking if they're ok. I typically don't use the pm system here, though it remains open.

I have had some interesting conversations there. Mainly with those who have messaged to ask my opinion on something. . ( I know. .it shocks me, too )

I like personalized attention too but sometimes I find pm's overwhelming when I'm typing on a phone.

I agree with the PMs on the phone. It's a challenge - I'll usually at least read the messages, but don't always respond right away. Which is probably another Litiquette topic - I don't always get to respond to every decent message I receive, but I do try! Sometimes it just takes a while...

I usually check PM's first because it's the first thing that shows on my page. In my mind, PM's are more urgent because they are one on one.

I don't really get PMs unless I have sent one first and I am generally discouraged from doing so. I check my thread and then my favorite threads to read. Then I browse random threads until its time to leave.

I go to new posts and post from there.

Then I tackle PMs as I post on and off.

I don't like being stuck non-stop in PMs.

By that I mean with some Listers I barely know they want to PM back in forth with like three or four word responses on things they could ask me on my thread or on any thread.

I respond to serene first, and then check my favourite threads. From there, I might check the forums for a few threads I haven't seen before, but that's it. Then maybe an unsolicited PM, which is actually quite rare for me. That's about it, though...

Emoticons.

Generally, emoticon = flirting or innuendos or playfulness.

Generally, no emoticons = deadpan humour or a serious statement.

But there's no set rule. Varies from person to person. Me specifically? is generally a good indicator. And if you get a PM from me because I want to discuss some topic more privately, then I'm flirting. Otherwise, I'm just making jokes.
