Loa Blood

Fenris felt himself trapped in the net. "BASTARDS!! FIGHT ME WITH HONOR!! COWARDS!!!" he howled in fury and then he saw the guards drop with pieces of wood in them. What now!? he thought as he tried to cut the cables with his armblade. It was no good, the poison gas was weakening him too much. "vengeance" he said weakly and all was dark.

South of Bridges

Monolith stands in stony silence, thinking over what Nikki had said. Waves crash against the roacks and trees of this wild coast. Then she cathes the an intruder's thoughts at the edge of her telepathic awareness. Hiding back in the forest, watching. Nikki recognizes the mind of Nightlife, one of Hass' Gifted. He must be fast, to have followed Monolith here from Bridges.

And Nikki can read his unguarded thoughts. "I'll never be able to take Monolith by force. And Hass will need him to cooperate. But maybe this girl ... who is she? ... she looks vulnerable, maybe I could use her as a hostage to trap Monolith." He doesn't know she's the Queen Bee. If he did, or if he saw the Bumble Base, he would surely attack.

Jets stream past them, appearing over the swampy forest, and passing overhead out to sea. Followed seconds later by their sonic boom. Observing, looping around for another pass. Helicopters in the distance, over the trees.

Nikki patiently waits for Monoliths reply all the while letting her senses roam the area for possible threats, wait... there "I'll never be able to take Monolith by force. And Hass will need him to cooperate. But maybe this girl ... who is she? ... she looks vulnerable, maybe I could use her as a hostage to trap Monolith." Nightlife... what is he doing here? Immediatly on guard she sends Mark a quick mental message about Nightlife's presence all the while moving into a more defendable position as casually as possible.

jonny stays

Jonny waited as the guards moved past him looking into the blackness beyond. He moved silently to the trapped beast that lay helpless under the net. He placed his hand on the net and pulled the matter into himself, freeing the unconscious beast.
Jonny fell onto a knee as the power drained out of him, god he was weak he thought, the traveling to here must have took its toll on him. He turned to see the guards moving back towards the beatsman. Jonny clenched a fist and turned the pent up metal from the cables into a crude spike that protuded menacingly.
"I will die to protect the weak and helpless even if it costs me my life." Jonny pushed him self up and looked towards the guards as they approached him. He was not sure how this would end. . . . .

Valous

IC: "Charming thing to say, but can you make them die instead?"

Jonny`s end

Jonny turned towards the approaching guards, their masks hiding any emotion. Jonny knew he was tired, he had only one last once of energy, somewhere deep in his subconscious he could here a female voice telling him to relax.
One of the guards lifted a gun towards him, Jonny scooped up with his left hand and materiaised a slab in the air in front of him. . . but it was too late the gun had fired.
Luckily for Jonny the guard had fired a net again, the net thumped into the slab as it dropped to the floor. The guards had kept approaching as one had fired the net, so sure they were of the net working.
With a final desperate roar and lunge Jonny swiped out with his metal spike at the first guard to his left, just as the blade sliced through the air he honed the matter at the blades edge to an atom small keeness (the blade was sharper than a razor) it slid through the metal and then neck of the guard. An explosion of crimson sprayed into the night, Jonny used the momentum of his swing to spin and slam his fist into the face of the second guard with a final deperate yell.
The night was quite a guard lay on the floor the sand around him the colour of dark ruby. Two figures stood next to each other it was as if they were lovers in an embrace. Jonny let the spike dematerialse leaving him with a gore covered hand. He and the dead guard collapsed to the floor in a heap.
He could hear a female voice in the real world, and one deep in the resesses of his mind, but he could not make out any of the words because his world was already black. Jonny Had Collapsed.

End book 3

Monolith steps back from Nikki, looking around him at the ninjas lurking in the jungle, the two aircars hovering over the trees, jets streaming overhead. Across the sea, the open spaces and bare red stone of the Svetlan desert call to him. Monolith sinks into the rocky outcropping, and is gone, deep in the earth.

Nia takes a final glance at the Cold Blood agents hiding in the trees. She steps through a door in the air, and disappears into her cloaked Bumble Base.

The military helicopters and Coda aircar disperse. The bulging white GAIA aircar stays hovering over the jungle cliffs where Monolith disappeared. Inside, Dr. Dugan throws a whiskey bottle across the cockpit, smashing it against a bank of computer consoles. "Damn it! He got away! Again! Beatrice, run a full spectrum sensor sweep. Quanutm, molecular, and seismic. And run a simulation of probable destinations based on previous appearances and psych profile. Wherever he's going, I want to find him before Coda does."

"Yes Doctor." the mechanical voice replies from the aircar's control panel.

"Damin it! And now I'm out of whiskey!"

Nikki sneaks past the security system, and peers in the windows of the low suburban house. A sleeping couple. Drafting tables. No crib, no baby's room. No Valous. But then Nia finds a framed photo of baby Valous. In front of the photo there are flowers and a candle, as a shrine of mourning. Beside the photo are a newspaper clipping ("Infant kidnapped from suburban heights"), and a missing child poster. They are dated. Valous has been gone for three years.

Nia walks away through the snow, getting lost in Argopolis' strange streets and towering skyscrapers. Otto is either still drinking with ninjas and cultists, or passed out back at the Gator's Arms. It's near dawn, and Nia is cold, hungry and tired. Ahead, in the morning fog, she sees the welcoming lights of a small cafe. "Kell's".

The sun rises hot and bright over the scrub grassland of Amun. Valous' astral forms flies on through the smoke, wreckage, and bursts of gunfire from the Pyramid guards. She flies faster than they can follow, out across the desert, past miles of rocks and kangaroos, through a coastal village just putting out their morning's nets, and on out to sea. Valous flew on over the waves. She was free, but her body was no far behind her.
