"Sounds like one hell of a party to me." Alex grinned at the mystery mans description of the Coliseum. "Whats all that got to do with us?"
"Our suspect, Krill, states he stabbed a werewolf in the right shoulder ... would you kindly take off your bathrobe, Agent Durant." The man said in a flat tone of voice.
Alex glanced at Angela, his eyes a little nervous now. These guys seemed to know one hell of a lot and they didn't seem like normal FBI stiffs. His stomach turned as an ice cold fear worked its way inside him. Did these two believe in the supernatural?! With no real way to refuse, Alex let the robe slip.
"Guys if you wanted to check out my bod you only had to ask you know." He laughed trying to hide his fear. The red mark of where the knife had penetrated his skin still showed and both men looked at each other. "See, that mark can't be a knife wound from last night can it? It's almost healed already, that's impossible if it happened a few hours ago, right?"
"Impossible for a human ... not for a werewolf." One agent stated blankly.
"Come on guys, you really are acting weird! You first accuse my partner of having super sex powers ... which ok, I guess she does ... but to accuse me of being a werewolf?! You know how that sounds?" Alex protested.
"We could always ask for a DNA test, Agent Durant. What do you think the results would be if we tested your blood against that found on the knife at the scene?"
Alex went silent staring angrily at the two men before him and Angela.
"We know what you are ... what you both are, but you need not worry. The FBI has a unit, a classified department. It's very small, very unique, very elite and no one in the FBI or anywhere else knows about it. It is comprised of people such as you and your partner. People who are different from others, who have skills and abilities no one else possesses. You think your being assigned together was pure luck?" The agent actually lifted an eyebrow, the first real emotion he had shown since walking into the room. "Burns has no clue what you two are, but we 'suggested' to him that it would be a good idea to make you partners. We wanted to see how you worked together. Needless to say we are pleased with the outcome, that is why we are here. We want to offer you both a place in this unit. As far as the outside world will know you are still FBI agents and you will work out of the LA office, but the cases you will be working on will be ... supernatural."
He paused giving Alex and Angela time to soak all this up. Alex began to laugh thinking this was some joke being played, but he realised deep inside the men were very serious. They meant what they said. They KNEW what he and Angela were, the secret was out, but instead of a lab to be dissected they were offering him and his partner a job?!
"And if we refuse?" The question was hanging there in the air for all to see, Alex simply voiced it.
"Nothing will happen to you. You are good agents if a little more rough around the edges than a normal FBI agent. But consider how much more helpful you could be to the people of this country working for us. You both joined the FBI to protect and help people, to keep America safe. We could use you both to keep it safe from a threat it doesn't even know exists." Both of the men stood and one placed a small white business card on the coffee table. All it had on it was a phone number. "Think about it and let us know."
With that they left leaving Alex and Angela looking at each other.
