The protagonist is some sort of private eye who ends up with a free-lance reporter and they are searching for something related to the underworld and/or crime-boss. Seem to remember it opens with the protagonist going to visit their friend who is a security guard (the protagonist may even be a security guard). The main character ends up in a bar/restaurant and meets with crime-boss(?) who starts the quest. The MC then gets paired with the reporter and they end up getting ambushed in a building while looking for someone. Not sure if they are trying to rescue the person or just get information. Very much a dystopian/futuristic setting with elements of integrated cyber technology and it is story-driven rather than sex-driven. It was a bat-shit crazy adventure in the best possible way and I can't find it again. Has a Zoey Ashe feel to it (Futuristic Violence And Fancy Suits, Zoey Punches the Future In The Dick, Zoey Is Too Drunk For This Dystopia).
