Lords will be Ladies!

The Persuers

OOC: No, Isolde, I don't mind. The plot's getting interesting so far, and I can't wait to see where this goes.

IC: The dark figure in the black robes stared at the two figures as they vanished down the alleyway.

"The girl has a champion," said the shadow, his whispery voice almost impossible to hear in the still room. "Go after them. Kill her man; but the Princess must not be harmed."

A second figure entered the room, this one bent and wearing a blood-stained brown cloak.

"As you command," It said in a monotone, gravelly voice.

The figure slowly moved to the window. Its bulk regarded the open portal for a moment before leaping out of it and landing hard on the cobblestones beneath. The street shattered under the figure's weight, cracking the cobblestones and sending debris clattering everywhere.

The figure then made its way after the pair, its slow heavy steps stangely silent in the night air.

Cole

Cole knew one thing, there was no way the princess was going to make the run all the way to the castle. He would have to find transportation and fast.

Running to the right, where Mel pointed to in answer to Cole's question, he blessed his luck when he saw a horse, saddled and ready to ride at the front of a house. Someone was having a visitor in the wee hours and, figuring what that ment, Cole also figured that they taking it would be simple as the person would be too busy and not dressed properly and unlikely to chase them.

Lifting up the princess and practically flinging her onto the horse, Cole vaulted into the saddle right behind her just as a ball of flame whizzed past his ear and crashed into a wall in front of them.

Looking back, Cole could see a brown robed figure with blood covering it and took that as his cue to get as far away as possible. Wrapping an arm about Mel and grabbing the reins with his other hand, he spurred the horse into a gallop headed directly out of town.

Nara Wyvenspur

Zariel maintained a silent posture, evidently waiting to see how his new 'partner' would handle herself. She was still an unproven quantity to him, and he would not commit himself without more evidence of her competence, despite Lord Fzoul's words. After all, it was his ass on the line, not Fzoul's.

Looking at Zariel carefully, the priestess smiled coldly.

"Right. I think that the noble lass Nara will sponsor an adventuring party. Her family is known for sponsoring such things, so it will not seem odd that she do so. I will be along for the ride, or so the other party members will think, and you shall act openly as the party's leader, if that is amenable to you?"

The drow considered for a moment, and shook his head. "From what I gather, you, as Nara, are known for eccentricity, but I don't think that even a noble eccentric would make a drow leader of a party. We shall make the most suitable applicant the visible leader. Besides, the leader would be the most visible target for our foes."

Nara nodded. "Very well then. I shall have my servants post the bans in the morning. I will expect you later that day at my manor."

With a wave of her hands, she dispelled the cloak of silence which had ensured the secrecy of their conference. Just after she had done so, a muffled roar could be heard, coming from outside the inn.

Both of them narrowed their eyes. Zariel spoke sharply, "Fireball!" Nara nodded, and they moved as one to the door. Exiting the room, they saw that a door down the hallway from them had been blown off its hinges, and they leaped toward it.

As they reached the room, Zariel silently did a tumbling roll into the room, drawing his hand crossbow and a sword in one fluid motion.

Still in her guise as a drow matron, Nara cast a protection from fire charm about herself, prepared a silence spell, and strode confidently into the room.

A black robed figure, evidently a magician of some sort, stood staring out of the shattered window. Nara cleared her throat and spoke in Common, her voice dripping with the menacing accents of the Underdark, "Why do you disturb my rest, mage?"

The Persuer

The black robed figure turned to the two and glared. His face was hidden behind shadows, hiding his features.

"This is none of your concern, Mask filth," he said in an eerie, whispery voice. A cloud suddenly went behind the moon, bathing the room in darkness for a moment. At its passing and moonlight's return, the figure had vanished.

Trychaea

He was being gentle with her, but Trychaea would have none of that. With a scream of pleasure, she pushed down, embedding his cock deep within her. Little Wart grunted once and began caressing her ass with his hands as she pumped up and down, her thigh muscles flexing and unflexing rhythmically.

The dwarf brought one of his fingers around front and began squeezing and rubbing her clitoris. Trychaea was nearing orgasm and she began emitting an inhuman growl, first softly, but increasing in volume with her pleasure.

She figured that the dwarf was still to enraptured to hear her, but she couldn't have stopped if she wanted to. He would hear her soon enough.

Trychaea pumped up and down at an increasing rate, panting and growling as she came closer and closer to climax. It appeared as though Little Wart was getting close as well. Her pace became frantic, certainly faster than most humans could have managed without suffering from muscle strain.

Then it struck. As her orgasm overtook her, Trychaea arched her back and let out an animalistic roar. She could feel the dwarf pumping his seed into her as she shook the trees around them with her voice. When her roar ceased, the silence was almost frightening. She collapsed on her side next to the dwarf, breathing heavily but humanly. Little Wart gazed at her in wonder.

In the eerie silence before either lover spoke or moved, a faint boom could be heard from the direction of the town. Trychaea sat up and looked in that direction just in time to see a faint glow dissipating. It must have been some event to be heard and seen all the way out here.

She spoke quickly and with determination in her voice. "Little Wart, you must get dressed quickly. Someone may be coming this way soon. It would be best if you left now to avoid suspicion." Before he could respond, she turned her gaze on him. Her eyes reflected the light of the moon back at the dwarf with a firey tint. "Above all, you will speak of this to no one."

Nara

The robed figure vanished before their eyes, and Nara hissed, "Mask filth? I want that one...."

Zariel leaned out of the window, and his keen eyes detected two very deep holes in the cobblestones below. "Looks like someone... or something... very, very heavy leaped down from up here. From the smell of sulfur, I'm guessing our robed friend sent a fireball after someone from this window, as well. I'm very curious as to who is worth so much trouble." He smirked at Nara, "Keep up... if you can," then leaped down lightly from the window to the street below.

Nara stepped over to the window, looked at the street below, and muttered, "Showoff." Not wanting to waste the energy to get down magickly, she ran to the stairs, and out the back entrance. In her haste, she forgot the effect that seeing a drow matron would cause, only to curse herself for a fool as the kitchen she darted through erupted in screams of panic.

Cole

The ride to the castle was hard and fast and both riders and horse were tired and panting by the time they reached it. Fortunately the castle stood just outside the town.

There was a double wall surrounding it with a moat betweent the two walls. A very secure place indeed and Cole was certain that the princess would be safe within them. Sliding from the saddle, he helped the princess down.

"You sure do know how to pick your enemies, Princess. What the hell did you do to piss that guy off?," Cole said as he took her by the arm and escorted her to the gates where two guards stood talking to a third person. The night was dark and Coles black leather combined with his dark features made him blend into the shadows. The princess' grimy appearance at this point made her look anything but royal. No one would have spotted her for the princess she was.

They had almost reached the gates and could now hear the conversation between the people. Mel's face lit up and she tugged her arm out from Cole's grip and looked up to him with a smug look on her face.

"Its Father," She said to him, the haughty tone back in her voice,"You may go now, peasant. Your services are no longer required."

Cole's mind was not on her words though but on those of the people at the gate and, as he listened, his brow furrowed and he realized something was very wrong here.

Mel had almost gotten to the gates when she felt Cole's arm around her waist grabbing her and dragging her back from the road and against the wall. His hand came down on her mouth and his lips came close to the struggling girl's ear.

"Stop it and listen," He hissed. As she listened, her struggles ceased and her eyes grew wide.

"Be on the look out for a girl who looks like the princess and the man with her. She is a doppelganger and very dangerous. Fortunately the real princess is safe in her bed and out of any danger. You are to kill the man and take the doppelganger prisoner for further study. The man controls the double and he has to be eliminated. The creature will find our dungeon to be it's next home."

The king's voice sounded strange as did the guards. Whomever was doing this was powerful. Powerful enough to infiltrate a castle as secure as this one and to somehow enchant the major players into believing that the princess was safe and that the real princess was a fake. They wanted the princess for some reason. Not to mention Cole dead which was something that was not on his agenda. Not for a long while at least.

The voiced faded and Cole slowly released his hand from the princess' mouth. Putting a finger to his lips, he slowly moved back to the horse and looked around. They were alone...for now.

"We need to get somewhere safe to talk. Something is up here. For some reason someone wants you and bad. And they dont care what they have to do to get you. Now, you can brave this all on your own because I dont plan on getting myself killed because you want to hang onto your attitude. Or you can come with me and I can try and help you sort this out and get back to being the princess. What is your choice, princess?"

Princess Mel

Mel glared at Cole, then took a glance back at the castle. She almost broke out in tears as the full magnitude of the situation hit her: she could not go home again. Whatever was going on, her own father thought that she wasn't really her. Her own father...

Mel then spoke. "Alright. I'll come with you."

She didn't turn around for fear that he may see the tears building in her eyes. Mel swore to hereself that whatever happened, this peasant would not see her weak.

Reidrann Mossadin

OOC: Apologies to SpectreT - have been involved in family stuff for the last 2 days, sorry we couldn't get down to it before the inn exploded. I'm leaving the choice of what to do to you, but being a knight I think I know what you'll want to do.

Reidrann had quickly stripped the knight of her coif, mantle, tunic and belt. Her manual dexterity surprised the knight at first, until she chuckled and threw the knight's words back at her. "It's hard to be a good 'tomb breaker' if you don't even have the fingers to unhook a buckle." Then she had begun to work on the woman's leggings. That was when the explosion was heard, followed be the screaming from the main part of the inn. She sighed as she looked longingly at her would-be mate.

"Sounds like there's a game on," she said, "I suppose a noble like you would rather find out what's happening than leave it to other people to sort out?"

Cole

Cole watched Mel walk off, attitude intact and sighed.

"Why thank you, Cole, for rescuing me from that bad ole magic user. If it werent for you, I would be toast by now. I dont know how to thank you," Cole said mocking the princess under his breath. "No, no princess, all in a days work for us hero types."

Grumbling, he helped Mel up onto the horse and slide in behind her again. Urging the horse to get into a good pace, he searched for somewhere that he and Mel could talk without fear of being overheard or 'interrupted'.

"So, tell me who that was we ran into and why he is so mad at you,"Cole said as they rode,"I am sure I never met him before."

Princess Mel

"How should I know?" asked the Princess tersely. "I am a member of the Royal House. Only low life commoners have the displeasure of being acquainted with vile mages."

Mel stared into the darkness, her heart feeling quite empty. She desperately wanted to go home with her family; the prospect of never being able to do so only seemed to intensify ths need. Tears began to strain her eyes, but through sheer will Mel managed to stave them off.

She would not be weak.

Erin Rathe

I smirked.

"I just have the crappiest luck with women," I remarked, "I've never managed to get past kissing and petting before something interrupts me."

I unpacked my green tabard and threw it on over my armor, which was still buckled, taking the time to kick my old bule one into a corner. I then hauled my coif back on, and followed it with my pot-helm. If some fool was lobbing fireballs, I wanted as much protection as possible. I then scooped my claymore back out of the weapons rack, slinging it over my shoulder. I pressed the disc the innkeeper had explained to me as a key into the depression in the back of the door. a slight twist, and the door was unlocked. I quickly opened it, and charged down the stairs.

Cole

Cole sighed and turned his attention to guiding the horse. How come he always got stuck with the women who had bad attitudes. Was it just him?

Moving cautiously back into the town by a different gate, he soon found a building that was old, boarded up and looked about ready to fall apart.

Hiding the horse, he found a place where the boards were loose and ushered Mel in before moving in after her.

They seemed to be in an old storage shed of some kind with broken boxes and packing hay strewn all around. Definately not a place where a princess would be found. Hopefully not a place their pursuers would think to look.

Going to some of the fresher hay, Cole busied himself arranging it into a makeshift bed. After doing that, he unstrapped his sword and took off his black leather coat before strapping his sword over his shirt.

Handing the princess his coat, he said,"You had better lay down for a bit and get what sleep you can. Maybe things will look better in the light of day. At least I am hoping they will. You can use this for either a pillow or to cover yourself with. But get some sleep. I dont need you any crankier than normal."

Moving to sit on some boxes, he peered through the slats that fallen out and prepared to watch over Mel as she slept.

Without turning his head, he said,"And Princess, dont worry...I'll find a way to get you home again. It will be okay in the end. You'll see."

Reidrann Mossadin

Reidrann smiled as her would-be lover ran from the room. Typical of a knight, she was using the front door. Reidrann, on the other hand, opened the window and looked out. She saw signs of a drow matron sprinting from the rear door of the tavern. This was more her style. With speed granted from years of experience, she climbed to the balcony below and dropped to the street. A second later she was in pursuit, sticking to the shadows, moving only when she knew she would not be seen, and studying the scene before her. If this drow was like so many others, she was ill-fitted for battle against it. She had nothing hidden about her person to battle magic. Even the anti-magic ring could only protect her so far. But she'd followed more people through the streets in her days as a pick-pocket that she'd had meals since turning writer; and a running person could never be as aware of their surroundings as a walker - they did not have the time to concentrate. Reidrann smiled. The game was afoot.

Princess Mel

Mel accepted Cole's leather coat without a word. She was too tired to complain about the hideous conditions of the makeshift sleeping area she was in, so she accepted her situation with as much royal dignity as she could muster. Wrapping the coat around herself, she lay on the hay and tried to go to sleep. Soon enough, the softness of the straw as well as the warm, musky smell of the leather coat began to lull her to sleep.

"And Princess, dont worry...I'll find a way to get you home again. It will be okay in the end. You'll see."

The Princess almost laughed out loud at Cole's arrogant claim, but didn't. Strangely, the words comforted her, even though she believed none of it.

Trychaea

Trychaea looked at the ring he had given her on their ride back to town. The little fool really was enamoured with her. She couldn't help but smile. He did have his charm. Maybe she would return to him.

When they arrived and the dwarf was standing up to get off the cart, she caught his shoulder with her arm. "Thank you," she whispered. Bending over, she planted a kiss on his forehead. Somehow that act meant more to her than a passionate kiss like that they had exchanged before.

Little Dwarf waved goodbye as she turned the cart around to head for home.

OOC:
That was fun, but I'd like to join some of the rest of the group in the continuing storyline, so if anyone sees an opportunity to get Trychaea involved, either by plot or by accident, I'd welcome it.

The Persuers

The figure in the brown robe was currently tracking its prey through the city streets when it stopped. Its red eyes focused on a dark alleyway to its right, where it sensed movement.

A form suddenly solidified from the darkness.

"You are being followed," said the shadow.

"Yes."

"The pathetic beings of this world can not seem to mind their own buisiness," the whispery voice of the shadow held a slight edge to it. "We must not let them interfere. Destroy them, I shall continue tracking down our quarry. Join me again once you finish your task..."

The black figure melted into the darkness once again, leaving the brown to his task.

Cole

As light begin to stream through the slats, Cole looked over to the sleeping princess. Daylight was coming and they would have make a plan to get out of this situation. Somehow they needed a way to get far away from town and the castle without drawing attention to themselves. Once Mel was out of harm's way, he could find a way to restore her to her family.

Standing and streatching the kinks out of his muscles, Cole begin to quietly arrange the boxes around the sleeping princess so that she was hidden from sight. Once satisfied with his work, he slipped out of the building and down the alleyways of the wakening city.

Two hours later he was back with a full leather bag. In it was a dress that he had estimated was Mel's size, some sensible women's shoes and some fruit, cheese and bread for breakfast. Slung on his shoulder was a wineskin.

Theiving was not one of his favorite skills but was one taught to him in the military. Being part of an elite force that worked in the shadows and were given the missions that no one else dared to take, he had many skills a normal military man would not have.

Setting the items down, he removed Mel's shelter and reached down to firmly but gently shake her shoulder.

"Melaine Francesca Torlane Medaricci Olthens," He said with a chuckle,"Get up. We need to eat and plan how we are going to get out of here."

Little Wart

As Trychaea gave me a kiss on my forehead I waved good by to her and started walking down the street to my home!

I had a troubled image that The Princess was in deadly danger!

Somebody was Hunting for Her and it just made me so Mad she might be a royal pain in the neck at times!

Right now she needed all of the peoples help to keep her safe from harm!

Cole is with her I will offer him my services to help keep The Princess Safe from Any Harm!

OOC: Um, BRAT? There is no way you could know about the trouble. And, if you see trouble in a vision, you dont know the man she is with as he is not a regular of the city. No one but Cole and the princess know exactly what is happening right now.

You might take and notice that there is a rucus going on and investigate but right now nobody but those two know anything at all.

An even better senerio would be for you to go about your business and join in when Neale asks for people to go on the journey and join us there. It would be more logical, especially with you being of the dwarven race who are sceptical of magic and visions.

Nara Wyvenspur

OOC: This takes place a while before Mel and Cole got their stuff together, in Cole's last post.

Nara caught up to Zariel, who had paused. "Be quiet," said the drow mercenary, "the creature has stopped, up ahead." She hissed back, "Do you know what it is, Zariel?" He glanced back at her and reluctantly admitted he didn't. "Great."

They both noticed, at the same time, the massive form crunching the cobblestones as it approached them. Each readied their weapons, and Nara readied a devestating prayer on her lips.

OOC: I didn't bring this critter into the world, but, since I'm about to take it out, would you be so kind, Herr Sand, to take it from here? (And read your PM I sent you, too, please
